St-iz-uff from the Vault

Hi. I can't ever remember posting this much before, not sure if I've just got a heady bout of narcissism, or if working on the Obligatory MySpace Page (which is finally looking presentable) has me working in front of the computer too much. Probably both. I'm the only person who reads this stuff consistently anyway, so I suppose it doesn't really matter - ah the freedom!

I've posted lots of pics from past gigs, some of them 3+ years old:

Holy Twigs, Batman!!!

OK - huge storm rolled into town last night... and it left its mark in a BIG way; that is, if you consider taking out a chunk of your garage and deck as big! Check out the pics here.

All of this excitement has totally overshadowed the arrival of my new MTD Z5 bass... the thing looks beautiful... take a look at the inset pic... you can read a review of the thing from me on the TalkBass Forum. Overall I'm happy with it and I think MTD has another winner on their hands.

See you at Milkboy Coffee this Friday! Cheers!

MILK!!!

Hi all - just a reminder to come check out the SL Band Friday @ Jitters. We have an awesome originals SL Band show coming up with Marc Silver @ the Milkboy Coffee House - you can purchase tickets on-line here.

There is some exciting news coming (well, exctiing for me anyway!)... the pic is all the hint you're gonna get for now... more to come...

Speaking of pics... check out this lovely shot from the G man at ISI...
the same awesomeness that bought me the Ultra Man action figure when I my hand came down with a case of totally-broken-itis also brings you this little ditty, which had me laughing so hard I nearly wet my pants. Thanks, G!!!

Also - Thoughts and prayers go out to Katie Miller and the extended Miller / Tucker family.

And last but not least - I have finally gotten around to creating a MySpace page. So quit buggin' me already...

We Didn't Win - but THANK YOU!

Hello everyone,

I just wanted to update you on the results of the contest last night at the Electric Factory: We didn't win - that honor went to some friends of ours in Dirty Blue.

We DID however play a fantastic show, had a fantastic time performing on the big stage with big lights & big sound, and totally held our own with the other truly great indie bands of the Philadelphia area.

To be included in the final group of 5 best bands out of hundreds that submitted their material to the contest... well, that is far from a disappointment in my book! The only real disappointment was that we were given no perks for our troubles (ie, no concert tickets to see Bon Jovi, etc.) But we made fast friends with the Q102 staff so hopefully we have a shot at getting some of our stuff on the radio... one day...

The other bands played great shows, and I recommend that you check them out sometime - there was quite a variety in the top 5, and I think these bands represent the best of the songwriting, performing, and diversity of the Philly music scene right now:
- Dirty Blue
- Steve Liberace
- (S)he
- Octane
- Kyle Justin

I also want to thank **all of you** again for your help and support - you made this all possible for me and the band and I am very, very grateful to you!!

While I was pleasantly surprised to find that our band had lots in common with the other great bands yesterday, I did notice one big difference: most of those bands don't have successful careers / day jobs. They play because they love it, but they also play to put food on the table. Please continue to support local music - I am convinced now more than ever that the local music scene cannot survive without it!

I most identified with the comments of Octane's lead singer during their final song (paraphrased)- "We're all here to support each other and support local music!" It's important that you do the same!

SL Band @ Electric Factory 6-6:30PM this Saturday

Hi all - Thanks to your voting and support, the Steve Liberace Band (including yours truly) will be performing at the ELECTRIC FACTORY in Philly this SATURDAY, JULY 8! We received over 4,000 votes - your voting definately made a difference.

This event is free and open to the public, and is all-ages - please come out if you can, you can invite anyone you like so feel free to pass this along. The event will run from 5pm-10pm; we will play 6-6:30 PM and the winner of the contest will be announced @ 10PM.

We will be playing with 4 other bands - the winner of this competition will open for Bon Jovi at Citizen’s Bank Park on July 15th. Before you ask - I don't know if Bon Jovi will be there on Saturday or not! :-). Details can be found at http://www.q102.com/pages/airstaff/booker/booker.html

Also... it appears that Southside Johnny is routing for us! Check out the following excerpt from a note sent to Steve L. today:
"Hey Steve. Good luck on the contest, and if you win,
tell Jon I said to be nice or there'll be trouble.
Just go on stage and kick ass and be honest and turn
it up! Don't worry about audience reaction...just let
yourself go in the songs and you'll be alright.
- Southside Johnny"

Rawk it!

Anyway, thanks again - & hope to see you at the ELECTRIC FACTORY!!!
