Tinken' an' Wundren', Mahn

Hi there,

I've been struggling with coming up with any ideas noteworthy enough to post... as well as wondering why anyone would be remotely interested in the topics that I do post... but in the interest of continuity, here comes another one...

I wish I could expound upon the vast amount of new material that the SL Band has been penning, but that would be a farce - we *do* have some new material, but it needs a lot of work. The game plan is (still!) to polish off about 5 new tunes, play a live venue (likely Kelly's Logan House in Wilmington, DE) where we can debut / record those tunes, and release a live album. It is slow-going, but I'm pestering Steve enough to make it happen. In the meantime, Steve is working on creating a "Best Of" album that will be available for download only - more on that as things progress.

Other than that, I'm enjoying the respite of not having any gigs, rehearsals, or study time required this weekend (having just taken the Certified Specialist of Wine exam this week, which required lots of cramming - er, I mean, studying - more on that in my wine blog later). Have taken a trip out to French Creek Ridge today, where we had a nice chat with wine maker Janet Maki (who treated us to some of their most recent Gewürztraminer, which had an excellent nose and a delicate finish).

In closing, I leave you with a picture of Geddy Lee at a wedding (don't ask...):

Cheers!

Rocktober

Just taking a break from studying for my upcoming wine exam (Certified Specialist in Wine from the Society of Wine Educators), and catching a little bit of the Steelers v Seahawks game on NFL.com gameday via the web. Seemed like a good time to post...

I'm happy to report that the 1st annual Rocktoberfest was blast and a big success, raising nearly $2000 for MDA. The bands had great sets (though I thought ours was a tad off from our best, but was fun & enjoyable nonetheless) - if you've not yet seen these bands perform, you should check them out:
Next up for the SL Band is the Sand Bar next weekend. Cheers!
