Talisman Making Guide

First off you need the ingredients to make your
talisman. There are two ingredients that are absolutely required: A container and
a fragment. You can make a talisman with only these two ingredients but your
power will be low. There are three other ingredients you can add to increase
the power of your talisman: Dust, Curio, and Essence.
Ingredients and How to Determine Their Power:
There are 9 Tiers of ingredients (not counting training fragments). The skill
required to use the ingredients determines which tier it is in.

·
For
the Fragment the power is equal to twice the tier number. (Example: A skill 150
fragment is tier 7 so therefore has 14 power)
·
For
the Curio, Dust, and Essence the power is equal to the tier number. (Example: A
skill 125 curio is tier 6 so therefore has 6 power)
·
For
the Containers there is no tier. A skill 200 container has one power, all other
containers have zero.
What Matters When Making a
Talisman:
The result of your craft will depend on only a few
factors:
·
First,
what are you making:
o Stat talisman Strength,
Willpower, Intelligence, Ballistics, Wounds, and Initiative
o Resist talisman Elemental,
Corporeal, and Spiritual
o Armor talisman Armor
o Power talisman Melee Power,
Range Power, Magic Power, Heal Power
o Crit talisman Melee Crit, Range Crit, Magic Crit, Heal Crit
This is determined by which
fragment you are using and this tells you which section to look in below.
·
-Second,
the total power of the 5 items combined. The individual power of the items are
not used in the calculations, only the total combined power matters.
·
-Third,
the color of fragment: White, Green, Blue, or Purple.
·
-Finally,
whether or not you get a critical or special result. This is based solely on
luck but you can increase your chances by using better containers or curios.
Curios have a bonus chance to critical.
·
White
curios have a 1% bonus
·
Green
curios have a 5% bonus
·
Blue
curios have a 10% bonus
·
Purple
curios have a 15% bonus
Note: Only white curios still drop after patch
1.3. The green, blue, and purple that remain
are leftover from before the patch. Once
they are gone there will be no more.
Containers have a bonus chance to special.
·
Skill
1 have a 1% bonus
·
Skill
50 have a 2% bonus
·
Skill
100 have a 3% bonus
·
Skill
150 have a 4% bonus
·
Skill
200 have a 5% bonus (and one power).
*Note: Using store bought fragments makes a tier
zero result (training) no matter what the power is and will not be included in
any further info but they are +1 stat and level 1 requirement.
What Happens When I Get a
Critical or Special:
Getting a critical increases your total power by 6.
Getting a special increases your total power by 1 and bumps you up one color.
Getting a special with a purple fragment gives you
back the fragment instead of giving a color bump (since there is no color above
purple).
Making Your Talisman:
Now that you know everything that determines your
outcome lets discuss those outcomes.
When you make a talisman there are ten possible
tiers you can make. Each tier has a different prefix as you will see in the
tables below. The power required for each tier is the same no matter what type
of talisman you're making and the level requirement to use a talisman is based
only off what tier it is.
***As of 1.3.4 the level requirements, armor
values, and resist values were changed.
Values in red are extrapolated and/or wild
guesses, any proof that these are either right or wrong posted would be
appreciated.

It should be noted that the highest power you can
obtain without a crit is 46, therefore you must have
a crit in order to obtain a tier 10 potent talisman.
Crit Chance Talisman:
The Crit Chance talisman work differently from the
rest so they wouldn't work in the above table.

The Tier of the talisman (calculated the same way as
every other talisman) determines the duration.

Addons:
Crafting Info
Tooltip: This addon adds
specific information about each crafting related item in the mouse over
tooltip. For talisman making items it
will display the power of the item and any other bonus it provides.
Motion: Allows you to make stacks of
talisman without having to click over and over.
TalismanGenie: Gives you access to some of this information in game.
Update History:
11-14-09: Changed Potent to 51+ power (crit with 44 power did not create potent)
11-20-09: Too many people complained
about the red
switching to a darker (boring) color. Also adding section for recommended addons.
2-24-10: First round of edits for changes made in
1.3.4. Numbers in red are not verified,
blank spots I cant even guess at yet.
2-26-10: Some updates for armor and resist values
4-01-10: A few more updates to the resist talisman
table.
10-04-10: Confirmed a few more talisman
values, made wild guesses for the values that I still had blanks on, fixed the
required level for crit talisman, and added motion to
the recommended addon list.
10-29-10: Corrected and confirmed a few
more resist talisman values, and updated some of my wild guesses based on the
new information. Also found duration
values for a few lower tier crit talisman.
1-11-11: Few more confirmations
1-17-11: Corrected value of blue inferior resist
talisman (guess was 32, actual was 31).
Updated recommended addons section with links
(and removed crafting Willard).
1-30-11: Confirmed that guesses for Purple Major and
Greater resist talismans and Blue Feeble and Weak resist talisman were correct
2-12-11: Confirmed that purple lesser
and potent resist talisman guesses were correct.
