The Lego Computer Mod

Made by Stephen Sessions

This all started out when I was bored and decided I wanted to do something fun. Eventually I got the idea to build another computer but I wanted to make an intresting mod. I had a lot of ideas ranging from lincoln logs to building it out of a typewriter. Then the idea hit me to use Legos. I considered using a mini-itx motherboard but didn't want to spend the money so instead opted for a cheap pentium 133 motherboard. The CD-Rom didn't end up working so thats why you will see a blank area in some pictures. I started building the base with some parts added that act as spacers. The motherboard stays in very good and doesn't wobble at all. The slot on the right contains the hard drive and the motherboard is installed on top of the green base. The CD-Rom was a little tough to get in because it didn't want to fit as you can see. When installing it I had to make sure to leave the top part unconnected until it was in all the way. I forgot to add slots for the fans so I decided to do that next. Once the fans where installed I moved on to the base for the power supply to stand on. The power supply would go directly on top of this and there would be something on the right added to stop the power supply from causing a short circuit with the video card. The next step was to add another layer on top of the power supply to give it some stability. After this I made a few minor changes such as putting in windows. The last step was to add the top to it. It is a little messy on one side because it isn't meant to be seen. After almost 20 hours of work it is finally over and I have made a one of a kind computer out of Legos.
