Matok must bore some pain till he done this. He got some burns on his left leg meanwhile on of the last encouragements. One of the X-Ray torpedos exploded in his very near and caused a fire under his F-4's console. Matok avoided to show anyone that he had pains when he moved his leg. It was a great action to get flight permission with this injury but Alighieri needs every man and every fighter pilot they could get. Pappy and the Chaplain delivered a speech for the pilots. Matok felt uninvolved because to his klingon beliefs to die within combat - defense the innocent - was the greatest honor a warrior could ever get. And his comrade pilots was all warriors that was sure - not within the klingon code of honor but also warriors. After both finished his speech a big silence filled the area. Only the noises of the working tech guys could be heard. Every pilot got closer to his god. Tired Matok sat down on one of the boxes with tech supplies. For him it was a honor to die within combat and if the moment came he would be ready to travel the river of blood and enter the Sto-Vo-Kor. No need to think about it now nor to 'pray'. Kohlar came slowly towards Matok. The both klingon understood themselves without any word. "Kohlar, if I fall on the field of honor would you howl for me?" asked Matok in dead earnest. "Yes, sure, I'll do the ritual as you would do it for me" answered Kohlar. Finally after a few minutes, he stood and with a weak voice commanded, "All right, suit up...we're heading back out!" Kohlar and Matok nods honourful to each other and turned towards their fighters. "NC-17 and NC-34, you are cleared for launch. Good luck and Godspeed," announced Tao over the comm system. The fighters had been loaded with the special probes designed to provide some firepower against the Dalriada. "Acknowledged, ALIGHIERI. Keep the homefires burnin', " replied Cort O'Wood. Then the fighters airborne again. Each squadron's CO's ordered their fighters to formation. ********************************************************************** Scene: Front lines outside SB Alighieri FMD: 5.1508 ********************************************************************** "NC-17, NC-34, this is the BELLEROPHON. Five light cruisers have advanced towards our position. Need support by fighters" could the fighters heard thru the COMM. "BELLEROPHON t'is is Shamrock - NC-17 - " answered Cort "we're on th' way to assist you. All NC-17: withdraw and enter formation." NC-34's leader also agreed and ordered his fighters to BELLEROPHON. All Streakers drain their targets and came back to formation. Then the NC-17 turned towards the BELLEROPHON also all wings of NC-34. Cort speeded up to assist soon. "NC-17, NC-34, this is BELLEROPHON, launch missiles at the destroyers." ordered the BELLEROPHON as the wings arrived at the scene. "All fighters prepare for combat. We concentrate our fire to one destroyer. Have a look at the phaser weapons to avoid hits." ordered Cort and turned towards one of the destroyers. All pilots did their last preparations for the coming attack. As the BELLEROPHON shook volleys the NC-17 - and also the NC-34 - started their attack. Like bees against a quite bigger enemy the fighters the fighters flew towards the Dalriadan destroyer - but the bees had very evil stings. While the Dalriadan destroyer rotate to bring the weapons in position the fighters spited their deadly load to the ship. Matok pulled the torpedo trigger and one of the new torpys flew towards the destroyer. A streak of phaser light came out of the Dalriadan ship and Matok pulled the control to not earned a hit. The Dalriada had well impressive weapons but the fighters was not a big fixed target. They swirl around the ship - turning and rotating - and was no easily target for the destroyers TAK. The only problem was, that only one hit of the Dalriadans heavy weapon caused serious shield losses and damage to a fighter. Matok around the ship - seeking for a partition with low shields - and throw one more torpy against the ship. Matok used the 'dead zones' of the ship - these parts where no phaser banks could reach him - to prepare new attacks. The luck of the fighter pilot was, that the other destroyer can't targeting them without probably hit the attacked destroyer, but the fight force losses. "Kahles with me" screamed Matok - not over the COMM - and turned towards another attack. Matok released a torpedo but got a phaser hit. Low Shields that was not good.... "NC-17, NC-34, this is BELLEROPHON. Dalriada fires torpedoes against Alighieri. Intercept the Torpedos at the asteroid belt." "Understood. NC-17 withdraw and follow me to the asteroid belt" ordered Cort through the COMM. Matok turned away from the destroyer and earned a gaze. As he had joined the formation to travel back to the asteroid belt to provide cover for Alighieri he checked the damage control. HUD was flickering, shields was gone, slightly hull damage and some unimportant systems was out of order. A smoky smell spreaded thru the cockpit. *for torpedoes it should be enough* thought Matok and tried to fix what he can. ********************************************************************** Scene: Dante Asteroid Belt FMD: 5.1540 ********************************************************************** Dozens of missles reached the asteroid belt in volleys of hundreds. Luckily the stellar winds 'kill' many of them. For the others the Streakers and NC-34 waiting behind the Belt. The CAG ordered the fighters to various formations and in the remaining time between volleys Matok still tried to fix the damage, but a pilot in his fighter in space couldn't really fix much. Another at another torpedo got killed but a bad amount are able to pass the fighter barricade. This evil X-Ray-torpedos didn't only explode, they contaminate the area around them with the X-Ray deadly for men and machinery. Most fighters shields was low and so it was a gamble to destruct the torpedo without getting contaminated of the X-Ray's. submitted by MAD-DOG Matok Pilot NC-17 SB Alighieri DANTEXF FMD 5.1400 Pappy and the Chaplain deliver a speech for the pilots ChrisS FMD 5.1508 BELLEROPHON ask for NC-17/NC-34 support ChirsS FMD 5.1540 NC-17/34 put up a barricade against the torpedos ChrisS cu chris Christian Stark chris@rupnet.de ***This message sent by an official member of Indigo Fleet*** Are you also posting your message to the newsgroup?!!! ---END TRANSMISSION---
