SD: 100622. FMD: 7.0935 Scene: Command Center >"You are interested in honor, right Mister K'aft?" Yssar said without >looking up. > >Thrown for a moment by the unusual greeting, K'aft hesitated. > >"Not quick enough, Mister K'aft." > >Slightly angered, K'aft stood even more stiffly. "Honor is a warrior's >lifeblood, sir. Without it, you are walking dead." > >Yssar looked into K'aft's eyes. "You will start to temper that >attitude instantly aboard my station, Mister K'aft. Security aboard >this station... even in the warzone that it is... will be conducted >with an even hand, recognizing that sometimes compromise is the best >way to preserve life, liberty, and happiness for all." > >K'aft had always been able to find honor by following all Starfleet >regulations. Was his new CO suggesting bending rules to accommodate >criminals? Or was he just displaying typical Caitian weakness? The >Caitians were nothing compared to Kzinti warriors. > >K'aft remained silent, but then saw that the CO was expecting some kind >of reply, even though he had not asked a direct question. He also noticed that all the staff in the command center were waiting to see what his reply would as well. 'Well damn then all' he thought, 'I'll speak my mind.' "Sir, Security is about protection, protection is about force. Compromise should only be used when a show of force and the will to use it cannot accomplish that protection. Criminals and the enemy deserve no compromise, no mercy. And sir if you think I have a temper you obviously do not know Klingon Warriors." K'aft knew he had probably gone over the line with the last comment but it had to be said, he had been known as an unusually patient Klingon commander. ****************************** FMD: 7.1020 Scene: K'aft's new quarters K'aft dropped his pack on the bed, he knew right away he was probably going to have to protect the CO from his own stupidity. But then again wasn't that really part in parcel of a security chief's job. Prepare for the unexpected, and minimize damage from mistakes. He knew he could not go against direct orders, at least not like the last time. But he could work around those orders and have other methods, and procedures ready to work when needed. He quickly unpacked the few items that brought along with him, and started to personalize the rooms. Later when he was polishing his bat'telh he decided that it was time to get to know his station and his security force. K'aft hefted the bat'telh and smiled, "Computer, where is the security office?" ******************************* FMD: 7.1100 Scene: Security Office K'aft walked into the office and looked around, there was a level of noise one would expect coming from an efficiently running work area. But there was also a level of tension that one could cut with a knife. It was time to let his presence be known. After a very loud Klingon Battle cry in which K'aft brandished his bat'telh over his head, he had every bodies undivided attention. Not to mention no small number of hand held phasers and phaser rifles. 'slow on the up take but still a good response,' he thought, 'at least they're not so stressed to fire first then determine a threat or not.' "Good response, who is in charge here." A human woman walked over to him as people resumed the work that they were startled from. "I am." "Name?" "LT(jg) Tanya Westcott, I am the assistant chief security officer." "Good, I am K'aft son of Kšealr. I have been assigned as the new Chief Security Officer. Seeing as we will be working together, I would like you to give me a tour of the office and station. We can decide how things will be changed." ************************** NRPG; Well K'aft has made an impression on the command center crew, and the security office I will slowly start to interact with rest of you as I get to know your characters, plus because I'm not sure if I have sent K'Aft's Bio it is attached to this e-mail.
