The local Kraggons had to deal with their defeat on the planet below. The Dalraidans were rushing in with an assault-force capable to destroy the whole system. The Federation-minefield was getting more and more holes during the hours of the fight. The brakthrough for the Dalriadan fleet would be only a matter of hours. The federational fighters were out there to intercept the feared missiles from these warships. First swarms of them had been launched from the strange vessels with their inpenetratable gravimetric shields. Captain Katz had been ordered to meet with TF-Command to coordinate battle-actions of the YORKTOWN with the rest of the forces present in the system. Negotiations with the Kraggons and the pirate-clans as well were currently running. Engineering-teams from the YORKTOWN and the starbase were rushing through the ship and going over almost everything to make her fit for the upcoming battle as fast as possible although everyone knew that the YORK won't be in tiptop-shape for the new task at hand. Gibson left the liftcab on the bridge. A man he had never seen before was sitting in the centerchair, a Betazoid. Without any further delay he erected his mental shielding without intention. He couldn't help but he didn't like beings with mental abilities beyond human standards due to his experiences in the fleet. The insignia on his uniform designated him as the new OPS-officer. *A young Lieutenant as 2O/OPS who had served as CNS before, splendid.* he though with a mental sarcastic grin. The man got up from the chair and snapped to attention. "Lieutenant, Alexis Johan, the ship's new Operations-officer, Sir." "I'm Lieutenant Commander Michael Thomas Gibson, XO of the YORKTOWN. At ease. Anything to report, Lieutenant?" "Nothing than rapid progress of the repairs on board due to exceptional professionalism of the engineering-teams, Sir." "Sounds good. We will need everything we can get from them on our next run I think." "Anything new about our next orders, Commander?" "Nothing definitely, Lieutenant. But there is a Dalriadan invasion of a superior fleet going on in the system so I think TF-Command hasn't much of a choice." All: Sorry for the long silence but job has been a little bit stressy (12 to 14 hours working a day including weekends for two weeks doesn't leave much time to RP). Hope the stress lessens this week. Mark: Please use Fleet Mission Dates (FMD) instead of MD ;-) BTW, Welcome on board finally and don't worry about Gibson, he is only a little bit prejudice-driven towards mindreading and similar things (read his biofile ;-). --- respectfully submitted, CDR T.
