The last two days had been harrowing on the crew. With constant attack from the pirates taking a toll on the Yorktown. Her warp engines were barely operational. Shields were down to 85. Some damage had been done to the Yorktown outer hull. Katz hoped he could get some time and have the Yorktown fixed. The Yorktown had been able to gain some valuable information on the pirates. It was only sad that some 25,000 men had to die for this information. Katz vowed to himself that he would see the pirates driven from the Dante system. The information the Yorktown had gained was heavily encrypted. The Yorktown would need the power of SB-ALIGHIERI computers to crack them. The destruction of the two pirate bases must have been a blow to the pirate hierarchy. The two defectors of the pirates had agreed on that. However they were unable or unwilling to supply any more information. The Yorktown had received a communication from SB-ALIGHIERI. The communication had been short and to the point. The Dante system was under attack. The Yorktown was to head to SB-ALIGHIERI at maximum speed to report for orders. It was time for Katz to visit SB-ALIGHIERI and debrief Commodore Mirtox on the situation that had arisen. First however he would discuss matters with Cmdr Yssar. It only seemed like yesterday the Greyclaw had been his CNS. Cmdr Yssar had joined the Yorktown when he was an ensign and had risen through the ranks. He had served with Captain Katz, Captain Oliva Lee and Rear Admiral Ainese Kev to name a few names. It would be nice to talk about old times. Katz's last visit to SB-ALIGHIERI had been short and he was unable to talk to Cmdr Yssar. Captain John Katz got up from his command chair, Lt.Cmdr Gibson, the Yorktown XO, followed. Both knew that it was time to visit SB-ALIGHIERI and brief them on what had occurred during the last 3 days. It took both officers only a few minutes to arrive at the transporter room. None had bothered to change; both believing that what they had to say was more important then procedure. "Cmdr Gibson I want you to coordinate on resupplying the Yorktown weapons and see what you can do for repairers" said Katz "Aye sir will do" finished Cmdr Gibson "Energize chief" said Katz Scene: SB-ALIGHIERI Captain John Katz and LT.Cmdr Gibson materialized in one of the transporter rooms on SB-ALIGHIERI. The young ensign manning the transporter was surprised to see the two officers. From what rumors he had heard, the Captain of the Yorktown had been a clone of the borg. Also the tales the Cmdr Yssar had told about the exploits of the Yorktown had made the ensign belive that Captain Katz was... well, more then what he saw. What the ensign saw was a man of average height with brown hair. The man was well built you could see that he worked out. Yet he did not have to much muscle like a body builder. His eyes were hazel colour and when he stared at you, you could fell the authority they spoke of. Finally the way the man held himself spoke of authority. "Ensign whats the quickest way to Ops?"asked Katz "Umm ahh.." stuttered the ensign, not having been inside the Command Center yet. "Take the turbolift to deck 12 then along the corridor to the Command Turbolift. It will get you to the bridge, sir. Ops is just off the Command Center." Scene: SB-ALIGHIERI OPS Captain Katz exited the turbolift and entered what must be the heart of SB-ALIGHIERI. The Command Center was a huge room with multiple redundant consoles for Science, Engineering, Security, and Operations, as well as a myriad of subordinate functions. Katz spied the acting Operations officer by her Bajoran features. Some wag on the Yorktown had described Basek Ariana as a "sexy angel"; this woman, despite her two closed and one open pip, fit that description to a T. Then Captain Katz saw Cmdr Yssar talking to one of his men under his command. The Caitian stood out from the crowd. It was nice to see that the Cmdr had recovered from his illness. Katz quickly walked up to Yssar and waited for the Cmdr to notice him. It took only a few seconds for Cmdr Yssar to recognize who was standing in front of him a smile appeared on the Caitian face which looked quite odd. "Captain Katz nice to have you on board" said Greyclaw. "Thank you Cmdr It's nice to see the extra pip on your uniform and that you recovered from your illness" started Katz "Thank you Captain. I'm glad to see you're doing well." "My crew keeps me in shape. And we have fine medical personnel on the Yorktown if you recall." "I do, Captain. I remember we seemed to go through a lot of doctors on the Yorktown." They chuckled. "Anyway, the doctors on Cait are very good" finished Greyclaw. "Cmdr is Commodore Mirtox available?"asked Katz "No sir he isn't right now what have you got?"asked Yssar. "Some basic information on the pirate hierarchy commander" started Katz "I see this information will prove invaluably at a later date" said Yssar "Yes it will. It seems that the pirates are divided into separate entity which they call clans. Each clan apparently has specific areas of space which they control. The pirate clans appear to have formed a shaky alliance against us." continued Katz "The two pirate clans we meet were clan Tiger shark and clan Cobra. We destroyed one of there outposts. We proceeded closer and were attacked by the cloacked ship. We appeared to have damaged it. Our CEO found a way to track them. IT's in his report" continued Katz "Upon closer examination of the area we found strange power surges and investigated. What we found was what we belive to be the main base for both clans. We were able to beam aboard and get some information from there computer systems. However the leaders of the two clans initiate an auto destruct signal." continued Katz "We were barley able to escape before the base exploded taking with it 25,000 people with it. We belive but are unable to confirm that the cloacked ship was docked to the base for repairs. We belive it was destroyed with the explosion" finished Katz "I see again this information will prove invaluable I'll forward it to LCDR Ulfsson our Intel officer. He can figure out what to do with it later" said Yssar "What's this I hear that the Dante System is under attack?"asked Katz Yssar face turned gloomy and he looked over at the minefield monitor. For the past several hours -- actually more than a day now -- the Dalriadan's had been cutting back the minefield with their missiles, and their rate through the minefield was increasing. But Yssar was still confident that the YORKTOWN could get at least a few repairs before it was sent out to help Batron 2 with the counteroffensive. "You heard correctly, Captain," Yssar said. "The Dalriadans if you can believe it." "All the way out here?" Katz asked incredulously. "I didn't believe we'd be affected as much as the Priority alerts from CINCINDIGO warned us we would." Yssar nodded. He had thought the same thing. "Well, they're here, sir. And Commodore Mirtox has tried his best to get an urgent message to OMEGA. We can only hope that reinforcements are on the way." "But we're planning for the worst?" "That's right sir. Commodore Mirtox wants the Yorktown ready to ship out again within 24 hours. You'll have the full support of this station's engineering teams. We're getting our repairs completed, but any remaining work will be put on hold while the Yorktown is docked here." Katz let out a long sigh. "We won't be fully operational in 24 hours. But I can see the urgency." At that, Yssar shrugged. It wasn't often they were given the luxury of time and resources to actually do the job properly. He now new the lament of Commanding Officers throughout Starfleet. "Well Cmdr we both have a job to do, so I won't take any more of your time. I'am going to have my CEO beam over and get the help he needs" said Katz "We will be waiting for him sir. I wish we could have meet under better circumstances" said Yssar "So do I cmdr but we can't worry about that right now. We have a war to fight!" said Katz quickly leaving Ops Scene: USS YORKTOWN Captain Katz exited the transporter room and headed for the nearest turbolift. He quickly tapped his communicator "Lt.Cmdr Ne'telkmar meet me in my ready room in 10 minutes Katz Out" said Katz not waiting for a reply from his CEO. Captain John Katz entered the turbolift and headed for the bridge. The turbo lift door open and in poured Captain Katz. He walked over to the CONN and addressed the young man sitting there. "Well, look what we have here! Mr. Johan?" "Yes sir" "Well it's about time, ALIGHIERI had me worried that you weren't going to show up. However I am glad to see that you did make it safely aboard. With this pending war taking place, I worry about those who are out there." Katz said still keeping his cool demeanor. Alexis could sense that Katz was sincerely glad he had arrived, and felt as if a terrible weight had been lifted from his shoulders. "Mr. Johan, for now, why don't you go and make yourself at home. Meet me in my ready room in 10 minutes." "Will do!!" and with that he head for the turbo-lift. Captain Ready 10 minutes later Captain Katz was sitting behind his desk reading the latest reports on the Yorktown it did not look good. The Yorktown had suffered sever damage during the last few days. With her new mission the Katz would have preferred to see her at 100% but that would not happen. However with the York towns CEO and all of SB-ALIGHIERI engineering department he was sure she would be up to the tasks of fighting the Dalriadans. Captain John Katz had a personal score to settle with the Rear Admiral Ainese Kev, . The Lexington which was destroyed by the Dalriadans in an unprovoked attack had a crew member that served with Katz. Captain Oliva Lee had been Katz former XO before she had gained command of her own ship. Katz had sworn he would avenge the death of his former Xo and friend. Lt.Cmdr Ne'telkmar and Lt Johan walked at that time. Both sat down and waited for there captain to speak "Can I get anyone a drink?"asked Katz getting up and replicating himself some tea. "No sir" said both officers and waited for the captain to began "Well gentleman we have a war on our hands. It seems the Dalriadans have intimated a full scale invasion of the Dante system. The Yorktown is needed for this war. That's why you are hear Retal. I have been informed that all of SB-ALIGHIERI engineering facilities will be at your disposable. You have exactly 24hours to get the Yorktown as operational as possible. Cmdr if you can pull off a miracle now is the time." said Katz "Understood sir I'am on my way" said Retal getting up and leaving the Captains ready room in a hurry "Alexis I know your new here and Lt.Cmdr Gibson isn't hear right now. In fact he is on SB-ALIGHIERI resupplying the Yorktown. I'am needed at SB-ALIGHIERI to assist with the battle plans. Therefore I'am leaving you in charge with the Yorktown." said Katz Lt. Johan was surprised he had not expected to be given solo command of the ship so quickly even if the ship was docked for repairs. Captain Katz was leaving him with a great deal of responsibility and he was determined to show the captain he deserved such trust. "I see sir thank you for your vote of confidence I'll coordinate the repairs from here with Lt.cmdr Ne'telkmar"said Lt Johan "Good make sure you do. I'll be back as soon as possible. We will have a meeting with Lt.Cmdr Gibson at 1800 hrs to discuss the upcoming situation" finished Katz "Aye sir" said Lt.Johan quickly leaving the captain ready room. Captain Katz turned off his view screen and headed for the transporter room. The next few days would be important. IT would see if Dalriadans gained control of the Dante system. The Yorktown would play a major role in this fight with many other playing one to. N t since the Borg attack that saw Katz being cloned had the situation been this bad.
