Ens Makina get us into that Astrid belt now" said Katz fearing the worst As the Yorktown entered the asteroid belt Johg informed the crew that the Dalriadan fleet opened fire with another volley of missals half went to the remaining protecting fleet of the Dante system. The other half went directly for SB-ALIGHIERI. "Johg destroy as many of those torpedoes as possible" was all Katz could say. The Yorktown would destroy as many missiles as possible before they hit ALIGHIERI but there was no way she could destroy all of them .... The Yorktown or anyone else in the Dante-system hadn't got any information about the intermezzo at the training-grounds where a tactical Dalriadan fleet attacked the fleet of training federation ships so Gibson came to the same idea as the former XO and now CO of the USS Prometheus. "Captain, I suggest to disembark all shuttle-crafts to attack the missiles. They might give us the fraction of help to turn the tide for Alighieri at least for this volley." "Good idea, Number One. Execute it." Makina wanted to get out of his seat and his replacement moved in at the view of the FCO leaving his position. "No chance, Makina." Katz said into his direction. "I need you up here." "Yes, Sir.", was his answer but everyone could sense the disappointment in the voice of the young pilot. Katz had considered to grant Makina joining the pilots out there. Makina had done a formidable job to keep the Yorktown out of really effective fire coming from the Dalriadan taskforce but then Katz thought about his responsibility for the rest of the crew. Meanwhile Gibson had ordered the shuttles to disembark and engage the missiles. The main viewer showed the small crafts heading for the bunches of missiles which had already passed through the belt. "Katz to shuttle-pilots. I know that we are sending you on a tough maybe suicide-mission. We have no other choice to give the base a helping hand. Alighieri counts on us. Godspeed and good luck." They could litterally sense the fighting-spirit from the image on the main viewer when the shuttles veered out of their disembark-course and changed to an intercept-course.
