Mirtig wasn't exactly sure where Sarax was, but she wasn't worried. The impending delivery of her child was gifting her with a strange calmness and the strangest twist to the way she looked at the Universe. Humans were the most amazing creatures, she had decided. They could lie and cheat with the best Ferengi, be obliviously moral with the worst Vulcan, and do all sorts of other weird things that made her doubt her own DNA at times, but one thing was for sure - when the universe went into moral receivership they had the strangest habit of banding together for the common good. It wasn't the way to profit but Mirtig liked them for it anyway. She didn't have any reason for it, but she knew that SB Omega, under immanent threat from alien life forms, had to be the safest place for a small insane Ferengi male to be lost in. Mirtig shut up the shop and stepped out onto the promenade proper. Taking a deep breath she waddled slowly out, keeping her eyes and ears open for any interesting pieces of information she might overhear. People might be wary around male Ferengi, but they never seemed to watch what they said as closely, in the presence of a female Ferengi, and her husband Sarax would pay her good Latinum for good secrets. There didn't seem to be much going on. She half caught something about how to get someone out of . . . somewhere - but it must have been a really big secret, because the two security officers discussing it were being extra cautious about being overheard. She pretended to stumble and pinned a bug on to one of them. It would probably be picked up in a sweep and removed before anything useful was sent back, but - RoA 14. Anything stolen is pure profit. Out of the corner of her eye Mirtig saw a woman carrying a baby - make that a Romulan woman. It was something worth noticing because, as usual, at the first sign of trouble, most of the civilians had fled the star base. Children were a presently unusual sight about the base that Mirtig became more and more aware of as her due date came to be measured in terms of days distance rather than weeks or months. Waddling quickly up to the stranger she hastily introduced herself and forced a business card onto the Romulan lady. She was in a hurry, fresh off a transport and already on her way to an appointment. Mirtig made a couple of attempts at small talk before allowing the Romulan to escape with directions to the crèche and a small cling-bug in her hair. RoA's 7. Always keep your ears open. & 194. Sarax and Mirtig are (respectively) a male Ferengi shop keeper, with a slight case of insanity, and a part Human, Ferengi female, with a very large case of pregnancy. If you need coffee, or any other hard to come by items, Sarax'll be happy to get them for you (plus commission). If you need background colour, he's also pretty good for that. Mirtig is still a fairly new character so nobodies quite sure what she's good for yet - but they're/I'm both glad that there's a possible new victim/mark/friend on board Omega. Oh, and I'm assuming you place the baby in Omega's day care centre between getting off your transport/ship and your meeting with Diege. To all sorry for the lack of pertinence to the actual plot in my stories, but I'm kind of stuck on the outskirts as civilians. Yes- this is a poorly disguised request for somebody to give me something to work with. Any body out there feel the need to be poorly used by a Ferengi?
