SCENE: USS PROMETHEUS, SHUTTLEBAY BAY FMD: 7.1704 LTjg Phoenix was looking over his newly arrived shuttles. He was hoping he would have had better luck in acquiring shuttles from OMEGA Command, but at least he had gotten something. It also didn't hurt that the newly appointed Captain stuck his Vulcan nose into the matter and was able to procure a few more shuttles from one of the other starships. Phoenix stepped into shuttle three. As he and Shuttlebay Crewman Walters inspected the interior Phoenix couldn't help but feel a little disappointment on the overall outcome of the assistance. Although the shuttle replacements was somewhat helpful the lack of pilots sent was almost crippling. Only two pilot replacements had come aboard from OMEGA directly. Sovak's timely intervention again however, had enough pull to at least get one more to arrive via D-shuttle from Starfllet Command. As Phoenix continued to give a scan on the shuttle interior with a tricorder, Walter's made a comment in passing which caught his attention. "I can't believe Admiral's Phaser's treachery can you sir?" Phoenix looked perplexed, "Walters, what in the world are you talking about?" "Haven't you heard? Phaser was in league with the Dalriada, he betrayed Starfleet." This information did not sit well with Phoenix. If this was true then the Dalraida may know more about us then we do about them. It could mean the end of the Federation. And what about Talon? Phaser hand picked him for this assignment. Was he really a plant as Phoenix once feared? If so was this the evidence he needed in his heart to justify hateing him and all his kind? The distraught look on Phoenix's face was easily readable. All his old feeling about them quickly began to resurface. He began to actually trust Talon a little, maybe even like him a little as well. Now he was begining to feel foolish about it and swore unto himself not to so easily slip into letting his guard down with this Dalraida again. He had to watch him now, lest his nightmares become a horrid reality and he fails to avenge Heather's death. "Sir are you alright?" Walter's question snapped him back to reality. "I'm fine Ms. Walters let's finish up here and move on." ****************************************** SCENE: USS PROMETHEUS, PHOENIX'S QUARTER'S FMD: 7.1725 Phoenix sat at his small desk in his room, going over some repair reports in his hand, when the door chime signaled. "Come in." he called out his eyes never leaving the PADD in his hands. He clearly heard the door open and someone approach the front of his desk. "Shuttle Pilot Lieutenant Junior Grade Amanda McGuire reporting in sir." The voice sounded uncannily familar to Phoenix and when he looked up from his PADD at the pilot, he almost fell out of his chair from complete shock. The pilot that stood before him was a dead ringer for his deceased love, ENS Heather Myers. "Heather?" Phoenix stammered. The pilot shook her head, "Amanda, Sir." McGuire handed over her PADD to Phoenix, which he took. "I'm sorry McGuire. I thought.." Amanda finished his sentence, "You thought I was my sister, Heather Myers." "McGuire?" Amanda nodded, "McGuire was our mother's maiden name sir, I took it when she passed away." "I see." "Sir, permission to speak freely." "Go Ahead." "You wouldn't be the same Phoenix my sister told me about would you? The one who during the graduation party took the control of the school sprinkler system and.." "I see Heather has a knack for talking to much." "Sir, Heather's dead." The comment slammed him like a fist in the stomach. He hadn't even realized he spoke of her in the present tense. Sometimes it was so hard to come to grips with the fact that she's gone from him forever. "I realize that Amanda." Phoenix scanned her file and a look of concern. As he read it he could see inconsistencies and gaps in the Bio. "This isn't very thorough.", he commented. "Must be an error from Starfleet Personnel?", she shrugged. Phoenix found that hard to believe, but nodded in agreement. He punched in some info on her PADD and handed it back. "I have put your room on your PADD. Report to Kromm in the Main Shuttlebay once you've settled in." "Yes Sir." "Dismissed." As Amanda left, more questions ran through his mind. Why was her Bio so incomplete? What was in those missing files? Why hadn't Heather ever mentioned a sister? Could she be as much of a threat as Talon might? Suddenly Phoenix was beginning to find the situation one perfect for inducing paranoia. He had to resist the strong urge to be so distrustful and give everyone a fair shake, everyone..even Talon. Altough that was begining to be the greatest challange of all. -------------------------------------------------------------- Respectfully Transmitted, Dennis Dufour Darrylwn@aol.com LTjg Gabriel Phoenix NAV Officer USS PROMETHEUS NRPG: ALL: Sorry for the delay in getting this post out. (albeit it's a back post) I'm between computers right now. I'm finally upgrading my system and things are a little hectic. Josh: I took your hint and added the tension back between Talon and Phoenix. Tim: I added a possible forum for you to add to a post you write if it's a back post, such as the mystery of the bio and the pushing for more pilots.
