I hope you don't take this the wrong way, since I'm an > engineer, not a doctor, but you don't look well." "Captain, do not take this the wrong way, but I hate machines. It is why I am a Dr and not an engineer." She laughed hollowly. "But that does not answer your question, except in the most oblique way. The device is not having any ill effects that I can measure. Of course, I am using machines to measure it so..." She paused again and then shook her head. For a moment she stood staring off into the middle distance. "As for myself, I am fine." She straightened up and met Isaac's eyes. He felt a chill go through him. Something was telling him that it was dangerous to be in this room. "I am suffering no ill effects from the cloak Captain. I can assure you I am fine." Almost involuntarily, her arm rose to brush his cheek. Isaac felt the chill again, but he couldn't bring himself to drop his eyes from hers. Her finger tips brushed along his cheekbone. Then they were on his neck, resting lightly on his pulse. She drew closer. The pulse beat became faster. The sound grew, a soft covering over the subtle hum of the engines. It grew to fill the whole room, just as Lisa's eyes filled his mind. Dark pools with a wave washing in... "Run." The order was harsh slap. Lisa tore her eyes away. She abruptly turned back to the window. Isaac let out a breath he wasn't aware he was holding, "Dr?" "Run, now! Get out!" She turned, crouching. Isaac felt rather than saw. Felt claws grow. Felt fangs slide down. Felt the need to run. He backed towards the door. A growl started at floor level, swelling up through the wildness Lisa had become. "Go!" He ran. The door slid closed just as a heavy thump sounded against it. A whimper. Isaac stood outside the door trying to get his heart beat back under control. His breath came in gasps. "Security to CMO's quarters." Isaac reached out to the door panel and locked it. "Medical emergency in CMO's quarters." Scene Bridge Alex felt a dagger of pain go through his mind. Then came the Captain's orders. "Captain, are you all right?" "I'm fine, but the Dr..." "Lisa?" * I am fine Alex. But I need help. Jules can explain. Just let me be for a bit. * Jules arrived with the security officers. He saw the locked door. " Captain, are you all right?" "Your patient is in there Dr, I am fine." Jules looked at the door again. "You have to be kidding. I wouldn't go through that door for all the tea in China." He saw the Captain's face. "Look Sir, I know what I am doing. Keep the door locked and let her sort it out. She will let you now what to do." Gently he started to lead the Captain away. "Look, its that time of the year. You can't reason with them." Scene Captain's Ready Room "Time of the year?" "Shaytonians go through a yearly cycle. Each year they must cleanse their systems of emotions. Unfortunately, space travel can muck up their cycle. Lisa's has been fine for a few years, but it must have been shook up again. She needs 24 hours locked in a room with some poor bugger." His eyes strayed to Alex. "She can go into a trance until we are out of trouble but she won't. When its her shift, she will dope herself up to the eyeballs and be there. Just don't distract her from her work. Rest of the time, leave here be." "Is that your medical opinion Dr?" came the slight sarcasm in Alex's voice. "That's bloody good advice Sir."
