The Orion sphere of influence is a loose connection of independent governments contained within the Federation Treaty Expansion Territory and bordering on the Klingon Empire.  The Orions have a strong mercantile tradition; however, they also have an equally strong military tradition and are fiercely independent.

The Klingons have attempted to invade the region only to be defeated by to hit and run tactics employed by the Orions.  Federation attempts to unify the terriroty and include it in their sphere have met with similar resistance.

The region is a well known haven for pirates.  The statistics below are for ships operated by the various governments in the region and are generally more advanced than pirate raiders, save when the raiders have government backing.
