BuDocks is responsible for maintaining all Star Fleet Naval facilities both on planets and in space.  This includes responsibilities for design, construction, and maintenance of all space stations, starbases, and ship yards.

There are many ship yards throughout the Federation.  Five large ship yards are the primary construction and refit facilties for the United Federation of Planets Star Fleet Navy.  Many smaller yards and starbases construct other supporting craft and even small starships.  However, these five facilities account for well over ninty percent of the new hulls in the classes listed as supported by each facility.

EPSILON INDI SHIPYARD:

Location: Epsilon Indi System, Andor Related Facility: Starbase Beta

Second largest Starfleet construction yard behind Bynaus. Primary location for GALAXY class and GALAXY derivative vessels. Supports most of the older cruiser space frames.

BYNAUS SHIPYARDS:

Location: Bynaus System, Bynaus / Bynar Related Facility: Starbase Zeta

Current administrative home for SFE. Largest Starfleet construction yard. Facility active since 2410. Specializes in 'newer' production vessels. Strong R&D facility.

UTOPIA PLANITIA FLEET YARDS:

Location: Sol System, Mars Related Facility:

Primary location for R&D along with class prototyping. Incorporates all related sub-division facilities around Mars. Broad scope of space frames supported.

One of many Earth orbiting facilities. Specialized in upgrades for GALAXY and GALAXY derivative space frames.
