Mongo's Machine Gun Pages Stoner 63A Automatic Rifle
Weapons:

The Stoner 63A Automatic Rifle is usually referred to as the "Bren" configuration after its resemblance to the British automatic rifle of that name. The Automatic Rifle is essentially the same as the LMG configuration with the belt feed mechanism removed and a magazine adapter installed in its place. The layout of the Stoner 63A Automatic Rifle is ideal for a magazine fed machine gun since it places the magazine above the weapon thus allowing the operator to have a lower profile and change magazines without having to reorientate the weapon. The Automatic Rifle configuration also includes a quick-change barrel to increase its sustained fire ability. Items required to convert a machine gun to Automatic Rifle configuration include:

  • Barrel with offset front sight Mag well
  • Receiver cover with offset rear sight
The rear sight assembly for the automatic rifle configuration is adjustable for windage and elevation but zeroing of the gun is done with the front sight so the zero of the gun does not change when barrels are swapped in combat.

Elevation adjustments are made with the front sight in a similar manner as the M16. The front sight base for the Automatic Rifle do not have the standard gas adjustment like the LMG. Automatic Rifle barrels with the gas adjustment are converted LMG barrels.

The Automatic Rifle fires from an open bolt and the selector does not effect the fire mode of the gun. The Automatic Rifle always fire fully automatic.
