The Stoner 63A carbine is identical to the rifle configuration (see Rifle 63A for more details) except, the front sight block does not have a gas block valve, the butt stock folds and the barrel length is shorter. The gas block was eliminated since the barrel length negated the ability to fire muzzle launched rifle grenades. The standard bayonet could still be mounted since an additional bayonet lug was added behind the gas block. The butt stock folded to the left and locked into a special trigger group takedown pin that retained it while closed. The same butt stock system was later used on Cadillac Gage's AR18. |

| The Dutch company NWM, who purchased the rights to European manufacturing of the Stoner 63A, developed folding stock that resembled German's MP40 stock. The stock folded beneath the gun when not in use. | ||||
