Mrs. Beth
Curty
A
New Jersey native, Mrs. Curty received her undergraduate degree from
Trenton College. Following graduation, she moved across country to take
post-graduate courses at Cal Poly, Pomona, California.
Mrs. Curty began
her teaching career at St. Edwards's in Corona, Calif., in 1975. In 1981,
the Curty family moved back across country, this time landing in Winchester,
where Mrs. Curty took time off to raise her two children, Linda and Jim, and
volunteering in their schools. In the early 90s, she jumped back in to the
second round of her teaching career when she began substituting in the Franklin
County School District. In 1992-94, Mrs. Curty helped teach "Chapter"
reading at North Lake Elementary, where she also coached the girls basketball
team. In 1995, Mrs. Curty moved to The School of the Good Shepherd and
served in various teaching capacities including teaching fifth and sixth
grades and K - 6th computer, art, physical education, and library. In
2002, Mrs. Curty moved to St. Paul Catholic School in Tullahoma, Tenn., where
she taught Kindergarten, then physical education, computers, and middle
school math and literature. In 2005, Mrs. Curty came back to The School of
the Good Shepherd to teach the second/third grade split class. Mrs.
Curty is teaching the first- and
second-grade multi-age class during the 2009-2010 school year.
About Mrs.
Curty
- Mrs.
Curty has a husband, Don; two children, Linda and Jim; and a
daughter-in-law, Mandie.
- Her extended children include
Belle, a gray tabby; Blackie, a solid black cat (she brings GOOD
luck);
and an Australian shepherd, Chairman. She also has a large family of
grand-kitties and grand-puppies.
- Her hobbies include gardening,
swimming, sewing, reading, and water skiing.
- She enjoys working with
children, computers and physical education.
About Our Class
This year, Mrs.
Curty is teaching a 1st-2nd grade multi-age class. Mrs. Curty is excited to be
joined in the classroom this year by Mrs. Felicia Martin,
who taught last-year's Kindergarten class.
