MSP Cars 2001-2010
2001 Chevrolet Impala - Class A
New for 2000, the Chevrolet Impala was actually designed from the ground up as a police pursuit vehicle and adapted for public use; quite the opposite of most police vehicles. From 2000-2005, the Impalas were equipped with a 3.8 liter MPFI V-6 with automatic overdrive transaxle. While there were several front wheel drive administrative cars and test cars in the MSP fleet, these were the first front wheel drive units to become part of the regular patrol fleet.

2002 Chevrolet Tahoe Special Service Package
The Tahoe was not available in a pursuit package in 2002-2004. The State Patrol used the Tahoe SSP for commercial vehicle enforcement and safety education applications. These were all 2-wheel drive units. Chevrolet made sure to include disclaimers in various literature stating the units were not intended for pursuit purposes. The top speed of the Tahoe SSP was electronically limited to 98 mph.
2003 Ford CVPI - Class A
In 2003 Ford did quite a few modifications to the CVPI including interior upgrades, electrical upgrades, 17" wheels and some minor exterior cosmetic changes.
2004 Ford CVPI - Class A
For 2004, although the Ford CVPI remained virtually unchanged, the State Patrol graphics made another change. The gold stripes changed to a little brighter colored fully reflective material, safety slogans were added to the rear quarter panels and a newly designed deck legend was added. All units displayed a special license plate to commemorate the State Patrol's 75th Anniversary.

2005 Chevrolet Tahoe Police Pursuit Vehicle - Class A
In 1999, Chevrolet produced a pursuit rated Tahoe SUV. It was a great vehicle, but the Tahoe was redesigned for the 2000 model year and the Tahoe Police Pursuit vehicle was discontinued. In 2005, the Tahoe PPV was reintroduced. The Commercial Vehicle Section purchased 28 of them to carry portable scales and all the other sundry equipment needed for commercial vehicle inspections. Equipped with a 5.3 liter V-8, 4spd AOD transmission, 3.73:1 rear axle, and a suspension unlike any other SUV, the performance and handling rivaled that of any other police vehicle offered the same year.

2006 Ford Expedition Special Service Package - Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit
Ford Expedition SUVs were purchased for CVI and for Crash Reconstruction duties in 2006. Because Ford did not offer a suitable maroon paint color for this year, the units were purchased in white. The graphics were adapted for use on the white units. It's a little bit different look than the maroon units, but they get the job done.

2007 Chevrolet Impala - Class A
2006-2009 Chevrolet Impala. 3.9 liter SFI V-6 rated at 233 hp @ 5600 rpm and 240ft-lbs @ 4000 rpm, automatic overdrive transaxle with 3.29:1 ratio. The 2006 models were Sport Red. It was a stretch to call them maroon. The 2007 color was spot on. 2008-2009 models were only unmarked as no maroon variant was available from Chevrolet these years.

2008 Ford CVPI - Class A - With New "Retro" Graphics
March 27, 2008 – The Minnesota State Patrol unveiled to the public its retro graphics design. The throwback design recalls the white door paint scheme of 1960 through 1991. The idea was to make the units stand out from the crowd. After developing a few different designs with Advanced Graphix of Vadnais Heights, MN, State Patrol staff and equipment committee members chose to hold true to the State Patrol traditions with this graphics package.
2008 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 - Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit
Commercial Vehicle Enforcement units receive a similar graphics treatment as the rest of the fleet in 2008, as pictured on this Chevrolet Silverado assigned to school bus and motorcoach inspection duties. These Inspectors carry ramps for use when inspecting motorcoaches. One set of ramps fills the pickup box.
2008 Dodge Charger - Class C
This one-off 2008 Dodge Charger Police Package is used for special seatbelt enforcement projects and public events. The rally stripes were added to give it a more “hiding in plain sight” look. If one looks closely, you can see the LED lighting tucked in the headlamp housings and the “fog lights”.
A 2009 Dodge Charger SXT - Class C ready for service! Yes, it has a Hemi!
Automotive enthusiasts may look at this and say, "Hey! Wait a minute! The Charger SXT only comes with a V6!" Well, when you check the right boxes on the order form, you get a Dodge Charger Pursuit with a Hemi and SXT badging. It's just one more subtle way of playing with the minds of people in the know. It is indeed a bona fide police package car all gussied up to hide right in front of you. So, next time you're rolling down the freeway and spot a striped Charger SXT, you might want to think twice before mashing your foot to the floor.
2009 Chevrolet Tahoe PPV - Class B
Here is a 2009 Chevrolet Tahoe PPV outfitted for Commercial Vehicle Enforcement. Similar units are also used by Public Information Troopers and K-9 Troopers.
Chevrolet made a mid-year color change opting to provide this color called Dark Brahma Jewel. Early 2009s were a lighter variation of maroon.
