How Will I receive my Commission?
I will personally hand you or mail you your original. You WILL get the original, and I will, if you desire, email you as the piece is being done (sometimes it’s fun to see the picture come together).
If your request is digital, obviously, there is no original, you will receive an email either with the picture attached, or with a link to where it can be found.
Other methods of delivery can be discussed.
As to "Rights of use"...unless otherwise specified by you when you make a request, I will maintain the right to publish said commissioned art, as I see fit, as the actual artist. You will still own the original, and as you have PAID for it, you OWN it, you may do with it as you please. I will still retain creator’s rights to use said image as an example of my work.
What is the actual size of the original art?
I work in 8x10 (8.5"x11" approximately) and 12"x16" (watercolor paper). Larger would require a slightly higher price.
Resolution and Size on Digital Pieces is pretty much up to your choice.
How many revisions can I have?
I will send you at least two updates. Depending on the specificity required for a piece (is it a character portrait, or just a generic Dragon and Faerie or whatever?) there may be more or less. I will limit revisions to three (exceptions on a case by case basis). My goal is to please you as best as I am able, but it is possible that even my best effort may not suit, and no amount of revision will save it. On other hand, my first attempt might be just what you want, and revisions may not be needed. I'll give more leeway when the subject requires it.
At this time, I do not feel there is any need to require a higher fee based on revisions, but if the piece consumes my life, it may be brought up.
How do I pay for my art, and How am I guaranteed you won’t take my money and run?
Payment can be made in various ways: Cash, Money order, or Paypal.
Money Orders can be mailed to my address, whish I will give you via email.
Cash only works if you meet face to face.
Paypal can be sent via my email, shadesiren-at-gmail.com (but with the @)
Thanks!
As for a guarantee, I do not require payment until a piece is done – if I never finish, you pay nothing. If you are not happy (and do not receive the art), you pay nothing. If you DO receive the art, I will expect to be paid for my work, regardless of your satisfaction.
I will send you your art once I have received your payment. Once I have it I will use it to pay for the shipping of your art. At this time, I do not require you to pay for shipping unless the finished piece is unusually expensive to ship (extremely heavy or large). You can think of it as you're paying for the shipping, it's just included in the price, so to speak. I ship via UPS, and use their pack and ship guarantee.
I cannot guarantee more than that. My art is extremely important to me, and I’m still a new artist. I will not risk my reputation, what little I have earned so far, on making an unhappy, or dissatisfied customer. If I want to be taken seriously, I have to take my customers seriously, and treat this transaction as the most important in my life – and every sale is. It’s not everyday someone hands money over for something as ephemeral as a picture.
