Citizen Black: Firmly In The Black!

Written by: Shar Tegral

As I passing through my day I overheard a young pilot exclaiming about reaching a distinct personal milestone. Today he will reach the 100,000,000 isk mark, liquid funds.

Realizing that this is of particular note, in dispute of the claims by many that new pilots will not be able to prosper in our increasingly crowded space, I decided to ask Mr. Black a few questions.

"Well I started in the initial beta pilot training programs but decided to remain planetbound for a very long time. My brother did go into space immediately after the training programs ended and the great exodus of pod pilots launched. He retired but bequethed to me his Omen cruiser should I ever decide to become an active pilot.

I made that decision a little over a month ago. In that time I've worked primarily for Amarran Navy doing combat strike missions. The pay is lucrative, especially when you start moving the advanced tech components that you can sometimes acquire.

About two weeks ago I purchased my first Armageddon Battleship. At the same time I've also been working for much more highly placed officers in the Amarr Navy. Being a hired gun has been a very good choice for me.

Also I'd like to point out that I tend to listen to Eve-Radio while I travel and work. I've been lucky enough to win a few of their contests but most importantly they help to relieve the dreariness and boredom when performing menial or monotonous tasks.

They have defintely helped my career, financially, and maintain my sanity and interest in my career."

Well there you have it folks. New pilots, disadvantaged?

I say not.

The community itself, being a vibrant economy as well, has within it many mechanisms for people to excel and prosper. I grant you that a small percentage of them will see any grand level of success but then if everyone won the brass ring on every turn... what would be the point?
