Jade Constantine: Muffled and Leashed

Written by: Shar Tegral

Jade Constantine, political relations guerilla, is the most intelligent of all pundits, the most prolific in sharing her views, and often viewed as the slimiest spin doctor in existence.

Everyone has witnessed, or personally experienced, her artful dodging of substantive issues, her riposte's are lighting quick and quite deadly to the ego. From personal experience I will confess that she requires being pinned down with a fork before you can slice her up, metaphorically. There can be no doubt that even mentioning her name is grounds for exclusion from polite society.

So the fact that she has been muffled and leashed was meet with great delight by her many detractors, the galaxy at large. The sounds of glass clinking was heard in almost every system.

But is this justice?

To believe that all the charges, massive amounts of accusations, against her were without vindictive purpose would be naive in the extreme. The persistence of her enemies only pale in comparison to her never ending need to respond to them. Both sides feed off each other with rapacious delight. Any protestations by the parties on either side of this sad little drama are specious at best.

The only real victim involved?

The CRC (Communications Relay Center).

The fact that these dedicated people have to play judge between these nefarious, and vociferous, parties is a crime in and of itself. Even Jade concedes that the CRC should not have to involve themselves, of course mind you that if they didn't it is likely Jade would go even further than she already has.

And let us speak plainly... Jade's current accusers did not create this singular event. Jade's history shows her tendency to create demons, from her perspective, to abjure on a regular basis. Often said around here, about many that display Jade's tendencies, "A fire eater must eat fire, even if they must make the fire themselves."

So it would be very easy indeed to shrug and dismiss this as "just desserts".

Very easy indeed.

The true vulnerability to the CRC, as is being displayed by Jade in a bootleg transmission, is allegedly the complaint system involved. In simplest terms - He who complains first, wins. And often enough this is true but not just with the CRC I might add.

In a galaxy as large as this it is quite common for many wrongs to be overlooked. It is consequential of the law of averages. It is only when someone makes a specific effort, thereby arbitrating the averages, that many wrongs come to the attention of the presiding authority. Many months back we even pointed out this "design flaw" regarding pilot registries and how such things can be abused.

Abuse of the system is the first claim by Jade. That she was specifically targeted for such grief. And we do not discount her concerns, we discount her assertion that the CRC allows itself to be manipulated by such tactics.

This brings us to the other potential argument that threads through Jade's claims. Specific bias by the CRC. And this one we can not so readily discount.

Those who staff the CRC are not "ethical automatons" who inspect every situation without exercising their own judgments. These staffers are also active pilots who are striving for success amongst the stars along with us. Many are very politically minded individuals who, by that very nature, can be accused of bias, jealousy, pettiness, and a host of other self serving ideals.

Are we, Eve Guardian, even safe from such accusations?

There in lies the true key to this situation.

PUBLIC RELATIONS GUERILLA

A self confessed warrior whose chosen enemy is the truth. Whose chosen weapon is distortion, deception, sophistry, and innuendo. Can there exist any doubt that Jade has placed herself where she wished to be? And having done so, kept available designs to attack and defeat her latest attacker, in her mind, the CRC.

There are times to challenge authority.

There are clear instances where the case prevalent sets precedents, good or bad, before the eyes of the Galaxy that need to be dissected by the populace. There are times to fight the good fight, worthy of the issues/people involved.

This, after review of all available material, is not one of them.
