Identify the following U.S. Presidents:

1. The last president born in a log cabin. James A. Garfield. [AP 164]

2. They were born posthumously. Andrew Jackson [AP 63], Rutherford B. Hayes [AP 158], William Clinton [EPT 37].

3. His mother served in the Peace Corps. Jimmy Carter. Lillian Gordy Carter joined the Peace Corps at age 68 [AP 385].

5 His Vice President was born in the same state that he was. William Henry Harrison. Although born in Virginia (as was John Tyler, his vice-president), he was an inhabitant of Ohio. [AP 85] The Constitution prevents the Electoral College from electing a President and vice-president who are inhabitants of the same state (see Amendment 12, ratified in 1804).

8. Sons of state governors. William Henry Harrison. His father signed the Declaration of Independence and was Governor of Virginia at the end of the Revolutionary War [AP 85]. John Tyler's father was also governor of Virginia. [AP 90]. Franklin Pierce's father was elected governor of New Hampshire in 1827 [AP 112].
