Theodore Roosevelt in 1906 for his role as peacemaker in the Russo-Japanese War [AP 212] and Woodrow Wilson in 1920 for his efforts in seeking a just peace after World War I and in supporting the idea of the League of Nations [AP 237]. Ex-president Jimmy Carter won it in 2002.

Ex-president Theodore Roosevelt was shot on October 14, 1912 just before giving a campaign speech during his run as "Bull Moose" candidate. Although the bullet entered his lung, he gave the speech and returned to the campaign trail within two weeks.
9. Who were targets of assassination attempts and were not injured. Andrew Jackson, Harry S. Truman on November 1, 1950 [AP 287], and Gerald Ford [AP 380-381] (two attempts in September 1975, both by women. In one case only one shot was fired, in the other, no shots were fired). President-elect Franklin D. Roosevelt was also the target of an assassination attempt which he escaped without injury, however, the mayor of Chicago was killed in the attempt [AP 271].
