2. He ended racial segregation in the military. Harry S. Truman, during the Korean War [RDND 117]. Truman also issued executive order banning discrimination in federal employment in 1948. [RDND 117]
3. He told a delegation of black leaders in the White House: "Segregation is not humiliating but a benefit, and ought to be so regarded by you gentlemen. The only harm that will come will be if you cause the colored people of the country to think it is a humiliation." Woodrow Wilson. [TPA40] Wilson ordered federal employees to be segregated. [AP 234]

7. One of his slaves, Paul Jennings, produced the first insider memoir from the White House. James Madison [BLSWH 157] One of his observatios was that it was two White House workers who rescued the Gilbert Stuart portrait of George Washington [BLSWH 159].
8. At different times, Martin Luther King, Jr. met with these two presidents in the White House. John F. Kennedy on August 28, 1963, after the "March on Washington", he met with King and other civil rights leaders in the White House. [KEN 505] Lyndon B. Johnson hosted Dr. King on August 5, 1965. The next day King and his wife Coretta attended the signing of the voting rights bill at the Senate.[DDWH 149]
9. He issued an Executive Order banning racial discrimination in government employment, defense industries and training programs. Franklin D. Roosevelt, on June 24, 1941. It was Executive Order 8802 He established also the Fair Employment Practices committee (FEPC) to enforce this order. [RDND105] He also issued Executive Order 7046, which ordered the WPA to assign persons qualified without discrimination on any grounds whatever.
