2.1 Before You Search

1. Check the 6.4.1 Frequently Asked Questions page for the answer to your question..

2. Check 6.3.1. The Presidents by Number and Dates for birth, dates in office and death dates.

3. Check 6.3.4. Places of  Birth, Residence, Death and Burial for locations of where they were born and died.

4. This site contains a wealth of obscure factual information about the lives of the United States presidents.  It, however, does NOT contain the following:

    a. Answers to discussion type questions.
    b. Biographical information (political party, etc.) about the presidents, vice-presidents or First Ladies. There is a list of presidents with birth, dates in office and death dates.
    c. Presidents ranked by "greatness."
    d. Pictures
    e. Links to other Presidential web sites.

2.2 Tips for searching

1. If you enter the word "president" or the name of a U. S. President, you will get hits on almost every page on the site.  It will be more efficient to enter one or two words related to the question you want answered.

2. After you select a page, it will open the page at the top.  You will still have to search for the word you are looking for. Use CTRL+F to search the individual page.

2.4 Questions on Information Searches

E-mail: My daughter has a homework assignment which is a list of trivia questions on Presidents. Where would we look for the answers to such questions as "Who was in office when the British burnt the White House?" and "Who was the first President to get married in office?"

Reply: Many questions like that are answered on this web site. Use the search engine and enter just a couple of keywords, such as "burned, White House" or "married, in office". Then select each page that was hit and use the CTRL-F (Find) function of your browser to search the page for the keywords. I suggest also that you verify each answer with an independent source such as an online encyclopedia or a anthology of the lives of the presidents from the library.
