The Book

This book was produced by the editors of George Magazine and features an introduction by John F. Kennedy, Jr.

This book covers a wide range of political information, from the list of the presidents to a list of gay politicians, this book lists them all.  Ever wondered which president vetoed the most bills or who was the first woman to serve in the cabinet?  The answers are here.

Here is a list of my favorite lists from the book:

1. Presidents with Royal Blood

2. Presidents Concerning Whom Resolutions of Impeachment Have Been Introduced in Congress (the list numbers 7!)

3. Presidents and Obesity (Five were obese)

4. Women who Rejected Future Presidents.

5. Sex Scandals That Did or Did Not End Political Careers.

6. Couples Married in the White House. (16 in all)

7. Embarrassing Presidential Relatives. (Including George Washington's mother)

8. Shady Cabinet Members--and Other Presidential Advisers.

9. Congressional Widows: Women Who Completed Their Late Husbands' Terms

10. The Limbless Legislators' League.

Supreme court lists, congressional lists, campaign songs and slogans,  third party lists, states, governors, legislatures, scandals, impeachments, violent acts, foods and drinks named after politicians, recipe, books written by presidents and their relatives.  Indians, African Americans, Hispanics, Father-Daughters, or married couples who have served in Congress. The lists go on and on.

Errata

Errors I have found with information in this book:

Page 9:  According to an authoritative appearing web site Gerald Ford and Richard Nixon were not descended from a Mayflower passenger, but from the Henry Howland, the brother of John Howland, a Mayflower passenger.

Page 12: It is stated that Warren Harding did not graduate from college. Other sources say that he graduated from Ohio Central College in 1882. [AP 239][SBG ?]

Page 60: John Tyler had 15 children, not 14 as in the list. [FFTP 33]

Page 67: Lucy Payne Washington was the sister of Dolley Madison, not James Madison.

Page 88: The Secretary of Defense is omitted from the Presidential Succession list.

Page 289: William Howard Taft was the first president to throw out the first pitch of a major league season, but internet sources agree that it was on April 14, 1910, not "in 1913" as stated.

Page 296: Omitted from the list of "Presidents Who Fished" is Herbert Hoover, who was an avid fisherman and even wrote a book about it: Fishing for Fun and to Wash One's Soul. [BLSWH 131-131]
