3. Who was the first widow of a president to receive a pension? On June 30, 1841 Congress granted Anna, the widow of William H. Reply: As of 1994 the pension for ex-presidents was $138,900 [GBR 473]. Clinton will receive $151,800 per year [GM 0300-34] .plus up to $150,000 a year to maintain an office and staff. Mrs. Clinton will be entitled to $20,000 per year as a former First Lady. Retired Presidents and First Ladies also receive Secret Service protection for 10 years after leaving office.
