About The Artist
Artist Bio:
I was born in New Jersey and although I am self-taught,
I was surrounded by artistically creative siblings.
For as far back as I can remember, art has always fascinated me.
I am still intrigue by the many talented artists today and their brilliant works.
I started to create works by drawing what I saw
and then I would add a bit of a twist to the final work.
During my childhood years, I would be one of the first to finish my school
assignments just so that I could get back to my art work.
I loved the #2 pencil and the way the lead was so workable.
I remember using cigarette ashes to shade my portraits and still life works.
I will post some of my early works to share with the web communities.
I debuted at the Passaic County Community College in 1997 which was an enjoyable experience.
My work has been purchased by many Patersonians and Georgia natives.
My work has been exhibited locally in Atlanta, Ga.
As I continue my independent studies as an artist,
I seek to intensify my passion through my works.
Artist Statement:
Greetings Everyone,
I would like to introduce myself, my name is Shawn Ward. I am a self-taught artist.
I have been in love with this talent of mine since I was a very young man.
In creating my work, I like to explore new mediums, textures and dimensions to develop new works of art.
As a non-traditional student in the school of art, I have learned to appreciate the liberation,
connection and unchained freedom to create.
I often find myself dwelling on ways to combine life, substance, issues,
history and memories in order to bring life out of my works.
I feel that thought moving and lasting work will invoke questions, interest and a gravitational pull
towards the essence of the artist within the work.
I hope that I am able to connect with the world in a non-traditional
and unscripted manner.
As I move to create from my heart, I would like to leave behind works that will
invoke thoughts for years to come.
