Featured as 1 of 8 Eugene-Centric 'Buzzworthy
Musicians' in Eugene Magazine's Spring 2007 Edition (The Eugene Music History Tour - Written by Mikael Krummel) www.eugenemagazine.com I am so honored to have been listed along with 7 amazing musicians: Don Latarski, Bill Harkleroad, Deb Cleveland, Steve Perry, Tracy Bonham, and Frank Black! ..."A different kind of hot is Eugene's growing list of artists primed for national exposure. Count among them guitarist/composer Justin King, drummer James West and singer/songwriters Halie Loren and Mat Kearny." The entire article's great - if you get a chance pick up a copy of the Eugene Magazine. Mikael Krummel is now one of my very favorite writers! :) Thank you, Mikael. I have copied in the section dedicated specifically to "Halie Loren - Diva of the Sisterhood" on my Reviews Page. . |

I had a blast performing at Luna on 2/17, along
with Matt Treder, Ishi Woods, Weston Turner, and Tim McLaughlin. Thanks to
all of you who came out and packed the house. Having that kind of audience
support and energy are what make performing fun! The same goes for the show at Sahalie up in Corvallis on 3/24... it was great seeing lots of familiar Corvallis faces...and even some Eugene fans made their way up for the show. THANK YOU TO ALL! |

That's right, I finally have my CD as well as
single song options available on iTunes! Due to a glitch that is way too drawn out and complicated to go into on my website, CD Baby had some major issues in getting my CD transferred so that it would be available to purchase on iTunes. But all those issues have been resolved and I'm 'there'! Feel free to click onto this iTunes link that will take you directly to where 'Full Circle' is featured and available. While you're there browsing around, feel free to go ahead and write a review about my CD as well as my music. :) |

New Reviews: Several new reviews of Full Circle just posted, including excerpts from the most recent two I’ve copied in below. Empowerment4Women includes a lengthy interview about my music as well as give-a-way Halie Loren CDs plus several other very nice prizes in their ‘Karma’ section. Good luck to everyone who enters! ..."Intelligent, sophisticated, and downright impressive contemporary alt-pop piano rock marked by McLachlan-esque vocals and captivating emotional intensity...As one might imagine, we receive a lot of independent releases for review consideration here at E4W. Yet few have been quite as impressive as Halie Loren's new release, Full Circle. An intelligent, sophisticated, and downright impressive collection of contemporary alt-pop piano rock tracks, Full Circle delivers, essentially, the full package: interesting musical arrangements, inspiring vocals, and clever lyricisms. It's absolutely delightful." (Carly Hope Finseth, Editor of Empowerment4Women, www.Empowerment4Women.org) "It took about fifteen seconds for me to decide that 22-year-old Halie Loren was bound for greatness; that's the point at which quiet piano gives way to powerful voice on "Maybe I'll Fly," the first track on her stunning debut album, Full Circle. It's a voice that's been compared (deservedly) to greats like Tori Amos, Sarah McLachlan and Joni Mitchell (who Halie delicately and wonderfully covers on Track 4, "River")... Rich, dark, bittersweet, and oh-so satisfying. (Michael Fiegel, www.OnlineRock.Com) More reviews posted on Reviews Page. |

| 11/12/06 | Hello to Everyone! As some of you may have noticed, I’ve not been performing as much the last couple of months—this is mostly due to my heavy school requirements this term. Thank goodness the winter break is just ahead so I can have some time to get out and perform a few shows. Go to my events page and take a look at what's coming up. Hope to see you at the shows! |

Hello Everyone! J It’s been a long time coming, and I couldn’t have done it without your patience and support. ‘Full Circle’ has now been ‘officially’ released! The CD Release Show at Luna on Friday the 29th was a wonderful success, even more than I imagined it would be, and I want to thank each and every one of you who came to the show as well as those of you who performed, cheered, purchased CDs or participated in some way (Dancers, you know who you are!). I hope everyone who attended had as much fun as I did! I enjoyed seeing everyone, chatting with you in between sets, signing your CDs, and, of course, performing ALL the songs off my new CD plus all the other favorites! J I’ll post some of the photos from the event on my website in the next few days when I can take a break from homework—I’ll send out a note when I do. Best Wishes, Halie |

There is so much on which I need to update you all, I hardly know where to begin... but I'll make my best attempt! First and foremost, for those of you who don't yet know about my CD Release Show on September 29th at Luna, check out my Events page for more details... the main thing you need to know, though, is that it is going to be a super-duper, fantastically fun time for all! I'll be joined on stage by many of my talented friends--and there will even be a real acoustic piano for me to play :) There will be other special treats as well (hint: things you can buy in addition to more copies of the new CD!). This is definitely not a show to be missed! Second, "Full Circle" has been receiving reviews and radio play all over the place on the web--a few awesome places where you can look for my music include : ~ CD Reviews by You (www.cdreviewsbyyou.com -- NOTE: I am the featured Alternative Artist on this site!) ~ Pandora Radio (www.pandora.com)-- one of the most awesome online stations around!! ~Whole Wheat Radio (www.wholewheatradio.org) And many others! Check out my Links page for a more expansive list of sites at which you can find my music archived or currently featured. Third, I will be playing every Wednesday evening at Luna/Adam's Place in Downtown Eugene from 5:00 to 7:00 starting next week (first scheduled date: Wed., 9/20) for Luna's newly re-instated "Martini Club Night". It'll be just me and the lovely acoustic piano, playing originals and cover songs from such a wide array, even I don't know what I'll pull out of the old song-selection hat... :) Come on down and check it out! Heck, request a song while your at it. On another note, I have temporarily taken down my guest book page due to a spamming issue... sorry to inconvenience those of you wishing to post. I will have it up and running again very soon! Hopefully sans rude postings of mass amounts of "colorful" arrays of links that have nothing to do with anything on this site, music in general, or even good taste. I apologize to anyone who may have seen and been confused by the guest book issues. Thanks for visiting my site! Hope everyone's enjoying the beginning of Autumn so far! Stay tuned for more news in the very near future... |

Here is the latest update on CD
NEWS:
I have a CD Release event planned (not the official CD Release "party"--that is still being arranged) for Friday, August 4th at 6:30 pm at CD World in Eugene. It'll be an in-store concert, and my friends Ishi Woods, Weston Turner, and Chris Ward will be joining me to play half of the songs from "Full Circle" in a live setting. There will, of course, be copies of my CD for sale, and other fun things. And hey, it's FREE! The show, that is, not the album :) "Full Circle" is now available to purchase at www.cdbaby.com (it is still available via PayPal or order form on my Music page as well) Reviews of the new CD are also being published online, and there will be more to check out very soon. I will give you more updates as needed! For now, you can visit the following sites to find a couple of the earliest reviews that have become available online: http://femalefront.blogspot.com/ http://www.ravenentertainmentpromotions.com/Reviews.html There will be more coming up, so check back again soon! |

IT'S FINALLY HERE!!!
"Full Circle" is now available for purchase through my website (via
PayPal or by sending in a filled out order
form, both of which you can find links for on my Music
page), and is also available on cdbaby.com and will be on amazon.com
shortly. Check back for continuing updates on where you can purchase a
copy of the CD - there will be more options very soon!
I've just returned from my Alaskan adventure, which included performing a fundraiser concert for the Sitka Fine Arts Camp (photos will be available soon!). It was a wonderful trip, and I have returned from it feeling refreshed and inspired! I can't wait to see everyone at the shows coming up in the near future... check my Events calendar for recent updates regarding new shows and revisions in terms of dates and times (namely the date change for the show at LaVelle Bistro this Saturday night). It's great to be back! I'll have more news for you soon regarding CD release party plans! |

Happy 4th of July to one and all... hope it was a fun one! This year was the first year that I've missed fireworks on the 4th--I was too busy getting ready to travel back to Alaska (for the first time since I left 9 years ago)! I'd say it was a fair trade :) I can't tell you how very excited I am to have the opportunity to perform in my hometown of Sitka on July 7th (see the Events page for more details), along with finally seeing friends I haven't seen since I moved away. I will be sure to update this website next week, as soon as I return from my trip, with news and photos from my travels! In other news, copies of my album "Full Circle" will be arriving on my doorstep in the next two days! That's right, it's finally time! And wow, is it about time. I can't wait to share it with you! In the meantime, check out the very new guestbook feature (click on the photo/link in my last News entry) and add a comment of your own! Until next week :) |

A sneak-preview of "Full Circle" will be featured on www.netteradio.com today at 8 pm Central Time! It is the first preview that will be available for the album, so be sure to check it out, or look for it in the archives if you miss the live radio internet broadcast... As for news on the album, it was delayed in the pressing process and will now be available in approximately two weeks! I know, there's been a series of delays, but it's for real this time! :) |

Update Re: New CD's Release: "FULL CIRCLE" -- It's finally about to happen--the CD mastering was completed, I finished the cover artwork, and sent everything off to the place that works its magic and sends everything back to me in lovely shrink-wrapped, shiny new jewel boxes, ready to go out into the world to be purchased by the untold thousands... I know, such realistic expectations for an indie album, right?? :) Seriously, I'm getting excited to think that this stage is coming to an end and I can move on to the next phase... you know, the one where the CD gets raves reviews, wins awards, and ends up on every music critic's top 10 list... or maybe it's the phase where I have no shame and whine to everyone I come in contact with to please take a listen to the CD and purchase at least one copy for themselves, their mother, and their cat, etc. to validate that the end result is worth all the effort James House (Co-Producer/Co-Engineer extraordinaire who possesses more patience than I knew one person could have) and I put forth while slaving with no sleep, and only Wheat Thins and rice cakes for nourishment in a windowless recording studio for months on end to create and capture just the right sound to create the masterpiece that is "Full Circle"... Caution: B.S. issued by professional. Do not try this at home. |

I performed at the Willamette Folk Festival on Sunday, backed by an amazing sounding band consisting of musicians Weston Turner (bass), Ishi Woods (drums), Chris Ward (guitar) and Mark Bradford (guitar). Being able to play on the Cuthbert Amphitheater stage to such an engaging, responsive crowd was truly an awesome experience! I think that of all the gigs I've ever played, it may have been my very favorite--and I'm hoping to be able to do it again sometime in the future! :) See photos from the event on the Past Events page. |

There are new song samples from three of the tracks that will be included on my upcoming debut album, "Full Circle"! Have a listen by clicking on my Music page. There will be full-length clips and more samples available soon! Stay tuned for more album-related updates :) |

I had such a wonderful experience playing at the Planned Parenthood women's rights celebration last night, I just had to write about it! It was an absolute pleasure to play for such a responsive and welcoming audience and in such an elegant setting (with a grand piano to boot! Can't beat that.). I was honored to share the "bill" with Senator Floyd Prozanski, AMAZINGLY talented spoken word poet Jorah LaFleur, UO Multicultural Director Carla Gary (who served as MC Extraordinaire), and other presenters. Thank you so much to everyone who showed up to show your support for the event, and to my friends and fellow musicians Weston Turner and Ishi Woods for playing with me (and adding such an awesome energy). This performance will certainly have a place on my "best gig experiences to-date" list :) In other news, I have posted a plethora of upcoming gig dates and information on my Events page. There will be plenty more listings soon, so keep checking back! |

Since I mentioned the podcast I'll be doing in a couple of weeks (Jan. 4th entry), I wanted to give you one more website resource to access so you can find out more about the site and how to listen when my podcast is featured in February! Wow, have I been slacking on updates here or what?! I blame the holidays... and my long hours in the studio finishing up my album :) However, I did take the time to write up a short newsletter, which you can read HERE! In other news, I have a few performances on the calendar for the upcoming months, including two (so far) at the end of January. On January 21st, I will be performing at a Planned Parenthood celebration, an annual event dedicated to raising awareness of and to celebrate women's rights. The very next day, I will be taping an interview and live performances of several of my songs for a podcast that will be featured on Brightside Broadcast (www.brightsidebroadcast.com--check out their previous podcasts of Everclear, Julia Dumas, and others!). I will let you know when it will be available to hear online! Progress on the album has been steady, but due to an ever-increasing desire for improvement, is taking longer than predicted (surprised, aren't you?)... let's just say it won't be too much longer--it'll be out before the flowers bloom again, at least. I've given too many ballpark figures for release dates already... I'm anxiously awaiting the moment when I can announce the "official" release date! Stay tuned for more updates... :) |

If you've found yourself wondering "why, I wonder what Halie has been up to this weekend?", I give you two glorious words: ROCKRGRL CONFERENCE!!! I just returned from Seattle, where I had one of the most music/networking/performance/estrogen-filled experiences of my life at the 2005 Rockrgrl Music Conference. Check out the event's (and the organization's) website at www.rockrgrl.com/conference and check out what I had the honor of being a part of these past few days! A big, HUGE special "thank you" to Holly Figueroa, who invited me to perform on the Indiegrrl showcase stage at the EMP's Liquid Lounge, among other amazing expressions of support. As a side-note, I'm happy to announce that my song "Sand" has entered the #5 spot on Broadjam's top 10 for the "Alternative Pop" category as of 11/11/05! Check it out by clicking "Review Songs/Alternative Pop" at www.broadjam.com. Most of the many new photos (see top 'o the page) on my site were taken by Sally Yaich (Corvallis), a fabulous photographer and even better friend. You'll know which ones they are when you see them if they're not indicated already (hint: you'll like them the best) :) There is so much to report, and so little space. Look for more details in this month's Newsletter! If you aren't yet a member of my newsletter list, e-mail me at halieloren@comcast.net! |
|
| 9/4/05 | September 4, 2005: Hey, Everyone! Click HERE to check out my latest Newsletter for re-caps of the very busy month of August and plans for September! | |
| 8/29/05 | Check out the new purchase links on my Music page--one for The SGC Project's benefit CD, "For the Love", and a pre-sale link for my future solo CD! Look out for a new addition in the coming week: I will be adding a "Join Halie's E-mail List" link, so you can add your name to the list of happily informed fans, friends, and music lovers at the click of a mouse! | |
| 8/18/05 | I'm building a link to
an order form with which you will be able to order a
copy of "For The Love", the benefit CD by The SGC Project (for which I
am the vocalist). It is a compilation of positive-themed music, and the
proceeds will benefit the Spiritual Growth Center of Eugene. The link will be
featured on my Music
page.
Reminder: if you'd like to be informed about upcoming gigs, news, CD information, etcetera, please don't hesitate to join my newsletter/e-mail list. I will soon be installing a link for list registration, and for the time being, you may simply e-mail me at halieloren@comcast.net |
|
| 8/17/05 | I've recently added a group of new events to my Events page, including two performances at this year's NW Women's Show (held at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland)! This will be an exciting opportunity to play for a large and supportive crowd (over 20,000 people attend the weekend Expo per year), and I invite anyone who is planning on being in the area to stop in and check it out! Keep watching that Events page for more performance dates and times... | |
| 7/26/05 | Well, looks like the charts have changed again. My song is still number one in Jazz and Oregon categories, but is now #2 in the Northwest, and is no longer in the United States or Earth top 10. Those charts... guaranteed to keep you on your toes! On another note, check out the new dates added to my Events page! | |
| 7/25/03 | Good news! One of my songs, "They Oughtta Write a Song About That". (co-written with Larry Wayne Clark) has made it to #1 in Broadjam.com's Jazz category, Oregon category, and North West category, as well as to the top 5 in both the United States and Earth categories! Woo hoo!!! Check it out (listed under the "Top 10" tab) at www.broadjam.com | |
| 7/23/05 | The Relay for Life benefit yesterday (songwriters in the round, 7/22/05) at Brewed Awakening was great fun, and a success! The team has now raised over $450 for cancer research, and we're hoping to push it over the $500 dollar mark during next Friday's benefit show (7/29/05--see Events page), yet again being held at Brewed Awakening. Thanks to all who came out to support the cause and the performers! |
