This is a repeat breeding (actually 3rd) between Jenna and Keebler. Why mess with a good thing? The proof is in the pudding...and these two put out extremely gorgeous, healthy, puppies with the best temperaments! The puppies I get from these two outstanding CERTIFIED Havana Silk Dogs is just simply perfection!

I’m SO excited about this breeding! It will be the first litter for Monet! She’s from our first litter born here at Sheltonrae and we couldn’t be more proud of how she has turned out. This picture is outdated, (she’s at the breeders at the moment, so a new one will follow soon). She’s a wonderful, typey Havana Silk Dog, as is Oscar. He is a Keebler grandson and the puppies he’s putting on the ground are fabulous. Oscar is also a CERTIFIED Havana Silk Dog. Monet has her provisional with HSDAA, and once she’s old enough to get her hips finalized, she’ll be certified as well! This will no doubt be one gorgeous, healthy litter!

Finding the right Havana Silk Dog puppy can be a challenging undertaking even if you find a reputable breeder. Here are some pitfalls that you should avoid during your search:

Choosing by color or markings. The flashy black and white parties are among the most requested color/pattern choice when people are looking for a Havana Silk Dog. I should know... I was wanting one myself. Ü However, by restricting your search to a particular color or certain markings, you may bypass a wonderful puppy, or choose a pup whose temperament is incompatible with yours. I ended up with a solid black pup myself, and my breeder couldn’t have matched us up better! She is the sweetest girl and is such a compliment to myself and my family. Not to mention she’s so beautiful.

Choosing by gender. Limiting your options to only one gender doesn’t make sense when the puppy in question is a Havana Silk Dog. There may be something wonderful available in the other gender. By keeping your options open, you’ll find your perfect puppy to add to your family.

Wanting a puppy RIGHT NOW! Many HSD breeders only whelp a few litters a year, which means that they may not have a puppy available when you’re ready to buy one. If that is the case, the breeder may offer to place you on a waiting list, and promise to notify you when she does have a litter available. This can be a good option. Your willingness to wait will result in your eventual purchase of a healthy puppy from a caring breeder. Don’t let impatience push you into buying a poorly bred, possibly sick Havanese from a breeder who puts profits ahead of puppies.

Now, keep in mind that I will be matching up my puppies with their future owners based on their family, lifestyle, personalities etc. as my breeder does with her puppies. To me, there’s no better way. I’ll keep in mind your preferences of course, however, I’ve seen first hand what matching up does. I don’t do first deposit received gets first pick or first come first served etc. My puppies will be evaluated and tested at 8 weeks of age. At 10 weeks, they are ready to go to their new homes. A few might go to show homes, but primarily they all will be going to loving pet homes, with a limited registration, meaning they will be sold on a spay/neuter contract only. You must be able to come to my home to pick up your baby. That way we’ll be able to meet and you’ll get to see and observe the parent(s). Most airlines will allow you to bring your puppy in the cabin with you in an airline approved bag and put under your seat. That’s the only way my puppies will be able to fly. It’s not too long, but these are things I must know before placing one of my pups. I’m not a breeder who will sell you a pup and never keep in touch, we’ll be becoming family so make sure you have enough room in your life for me too. Ü Ha!
