Kids Letters

The children's department has a wide array of services and materials designed to meet the needs and interests of our younger patrons, from toddlerhood through high school.

Patrons will find videos, audio books, CD-ROMS, picture books, fictional chapter books, non-fiction, easy readers, magazines, puzzles and parenting books on the ground floor. Young adults will find fiction and magazines suited to their interest upstairs, where they can read, relax or study with a view of the ground floor below.

Programs and services include a vigorous summer reading program, storytimes and lapsits, movie showings and other programs sponsored by the Friends of Sherborn Library.

A Poem by Adam and Joseph Seering
We traveled the yellow brick road,
Through The Phantom Tollbooth to the land of knowledge,
And watched while The Enormous Egg hatched.
We listened as Pretty Polly learned to talk,
A Mouse Named Wolf learned to sing,
And imagined wishes on The Queen's Nose.

While The Subtle Knife cut bridges from world to world
We watched as The Golden Compass found them.
Then traveled with Mr. Bass to the Mushroom Planet,
And saw Dragonseye, Dragonsdawn, and Dragon's Gate.

We climbed a famous treehouse with Fritz, Franz and Ernst
And found a Secret Garden full of magic, wonder and youth.
Then down the river with a Girl Named Disaster
To meet The Ear, The Eye and The Arm.
And on to Redwall, Mossflower, and Magic by the Lake.
Then Bagley the Weasel who saved Bridget the fish.
But never to forget the heroic life of the ever-hungry Bilbo.

Through all these books we have traveled near and far
And to places where no human has been before,
And with all the interesting and wonderful books still left,
We look forward to traveling some more.
