FR&I Level II Handgun, Jasper IN 2004

This class was held Oct. 1-3, 2004, on private property between the towns of Loogootee and Jasper, IN. There were 10 students in attendance - 9 male and 1 female, 4 FR&I alumni and 6 first-timers. Steve Silverman, founder and president of FR&I, was lead instructor with Jason Schafer and I assisting. Weather was cooperative all weekend, but a large class combined with short daylight and rugged terrain conspired to keep us off-schedule all weekend. Some lessons had to be modified or eliminated entirely because of these factors. Still, all the students reported that they learned a lot and enjoyed themselves, which is our ultimate goal.

These guys brought "just a bit of gear". :-)

Day One Lecture

Day One Cover & Concealment Demo

Note: In the pic above, Steve is demonstrating incorrect use of cover. He is both "crowding" cover (which allows his opponents on the trail to see more of him) and extending the muzzle of his gun past the cover (which could allow it to be grabbed or deflected). Steve is using a Ring's Blue Gun, which is a detailed molded-plastic replica of a Glock 23.

Day Two and Three Range Sessions

Odd Position Shooting ("Officer Down" Drills)
