JANUARY 29, 2011, Saturday, Warwick (RHODE ISLAND) – “Bentleys at Inskip.” Quoting from a notice about a car event that we were sent a heads-up about via the CT MG Club—and about which we went to the F40 Motorsports Upcoming Events Calendar (under January, ref: http://www.f40.com/aboutus.php?action=events) : “…Dear Friends: Between 11:00am and 4:00pm on January 29th we are having a 'must not miss' event at Inskip Porsche/Bentley in Warwick. We will be recognizing my favorite charity…Autism Speaks. As many of you know my daughter has been managing through the challenges of this disease for twenty one years… We will also be showing off some great classic cars. I’ll be pulling my 1926 Bentley Van De Plas out of the garage for this event. My good friend and co-sponsor of this event Dave Reindel will be there with his 2010 Bentley Sport. General Manager Bill Gibb will be our host. He is recruiting many of his clients to buff up their cars and bring them to this reunion… Bring your cars too. We’ll line them up and all have a chance to check them out and talk car talk. So I am excited to have this event focused on Autism Speaks, see some great cars and reunite with you. There will be food and cars and all of it devoted to a great cause…curing Autism… David Reindel is not only a classic car lover. He’s the author of the book 'Don’t Die Broke'. He will be signing copies of complementary books which contains some good advice for those of us who want to continue buying and selling great cars… Put it on your calendar now. I’ll see you there… Wayne…” Sounds awesome, and Autism Speaks is undoubtedly a great cause well-worth supporting. I did some googling for Inskip Porsche/Bentley, and it looks to be located at: 1515 Bald Hill Road, Warwick, RI 02886, ref: http://bentley-inskip.ebizautos.com/ . We also salute F40 Motorsports of Portland, CT (http://www.f40.com/) for their support of this event and worthy cause. And thanks again to the CT MG Club for letting us know--quoting from two successive broadcast e-mails both dated 1/22/2011 from connmgclub@gmail.com: "...There will be a car event in Rhode Island to benefit Autism on Saturday, January 29 sponsored by the F 40 Motor Sports...For more details, click this link: http://www.f40.com/aboutus.php?action=events, Scroll down on the calendar and click on the Jan. 29 event...." Pass this along to your friends!..." webmaster's additional notes: Yes, I know, this is obviously not a car-related event, but I am always happy to help out our friends at The Animal Haven with a little publicity for their important fundraisers whenever possible. Route 5) in North Haven--you need to go to this particular restaurant (FYI - there is also a Subway on Universal Drive in North Haven--that is NOT the one that is running this fundraiser) to partake in this Animal Haven fundraiser! We've had a long-standing admiration of the great work that The Animal Haven does on behalf of pets who need new homes, and enjoy supporting/passing the word about their important fundraiser events wherever we can. We heard about this event via a broadcast e-mail dated 3/25/2011 that was sent out by the Animal Haven's newsletter editor Chris Gagne; in her cover note accompanying the electronic flyer (which was transcribed above), Chris wrote: "...Have dinner at Friendly's in North Haven, April 5th, and a percentage of the sales will be donated to The Animal Haven... APRIL 30, 2011, Saturday, PortlandCruise Night to Honor Portland Army Veteran who died of cancer. Quoting from a Middletown Press article dated 4/26/2011 that was forwarded to us by our old car friend Jack Tary: "...His whole life, Kenny Fletcher put the needs of other people ahead of himself. Now, his friends are joining together to remember Mr. Fletcher and to offer his widow a helping hand. Mr. Fletcher loved vehicles: he rode motorcycles and drove a truck both in the Army and in civilian life. According his friends, his biggest love was his 1995 5.0-liter Mustang convertible. So when his friends decided to honor Mr. Fletcher, the most obvious way to do so was to organize a cruise night in his memory. The event will be held this Saturday, April 30, from 5-10 p.m., at Valli Construction, which is located at 22 Sand Hill Road in Portland. Trophies will be awarded to the first, second and third-place finishers, and dash plaques will be given to the first 100 cars. There will be music, provided by Pandemonium Productions, as well as food which will be available for purchase from Hilltop Barbecue. Admission is free, but Michael Brown, one of the organizers, said, “Donations are greatly appreciated.” The proceeds from the event will be presented to Mr. Fletcher’s widow, Marie. Checks can be made payable to the Kenny Fletcher Fund. In addition, an account in Mr. Fletcher’s name has been set up in the Portland TD Bank branch where people can also make donations, Brown said..." webmaster's note - In his note dated 4/26/2011 accompanying the article, Jack wrote: "...Saw this cruise and it seems like a great cause. Could you please list it. Thanks, Jack Tary..." Thanks Jack--we are happy to be able to do so. MAY 30, 2011, Monday, Branford - Town of Branford Memorial Day Parade. We are very happy to report that antique automobile participation has once again been solicited for the 2011 Branford Memorial Day Parade, which will be happening on Monday, May 30th. An informational form letter and an organization sign-up form were both received in a mailing postmarked 2/22/2011 from The Branford Veterans Parade Committee (c/o Thomas Yester Chairman). Since the antique autos and their owners are not an "organization," per se (nor is SAAC), I am obviously not going to be filling out the form--but I will happily provide a copy of the form to anyone who may be interested (in case they may represent an organization who wishes to participate in this parade as an "organization"). The text of the form letter, from the Veterans Parade Committee of Branford, CT reads as follows: "...The Veterans Parade Committee of Branford cordially invite and solicit the participation of your organization in the Annual Memorial Day Parade and Exercises, during which our town will join the nation in prayer and reverent tribute to the memory of the departed veterans of all wars. All units are to assemble at the Branford Town Green by 0930 hours (9:30am) on Monday, May 30, 2011. All units will be in parade formation by 0945 hours (9:45am). Parade begins at 1000 hours (10:00am). The active and enthusiastic participation of units such as yours will make possible an impressive display of the profound respect and gratitude that we all owe to our war veterans, living and dead, who sacrificed so much that we might all live again in peace. Please complete the enclosed form and return to the Veterans Parade Committee ASAP which will allow us to place your unit in its proper order of march. Respectfully yours, Thomas B. Yester, Parade Chairman, 17 Stonewall Lane, Branford, CT 06405..." webmaster's additional notes - Historically, antique automobiles have been directed to assemble in the vicinity of the intersection of Blackstone Avenue, Taintor Drive, and Town Hall Drive, at the point where all three roads intersect Main Street (directly adjacent to the Branford Town Green, on the western edge); cars usually are asked to line up physically along Blackstone Avenue, facing Main Street (the "wrong way" on Blackstone), so that they can easily drive out to join the parade at the proper time. We'll touch base back with Chairman Yester to make sure this is the plan again for this year, and if there are any changes, we'll make sure to note them here. *3/14/2011 Updates - Here are a couple of additional details about antique auto participation in the 2011 Branford Memorial Day Parade, per a postcard that showed up in the SAAC mailbox on 3/12/2011, from Branford Veterans Parade Chairman Thomas Yester. First, Chairman Yester confirms that the antique cars should line up on the roadway between the Baptist Church & the Congregational Church (which I believe is Blackstone Avenue), parking the "wrong way," so as to be able to enter the parade onto Main Street (Blackstone is normally a one way street). The other important point that Chairman Yester made is that if there is rain, there will be no parade, and Memorial Day Ceremonies will be held indoors. Thanks again Chairman Yester for the check-in! Additional thoughts - We love driving our old cars in the Branford Memorial Day (& Veterans Day) Parades, as a way to remember, honor, and show respect & gratitude to our country's soldiers who have given so much for our freedom--and we sincerely thank the Branford Veterans Parade Committee for once again inviting antique cars to participate. Based upon my having driven old cars in the Branford Memorial Day Parade for several years, it is my recommendation to try to get to the above-described antique car staging area early, since the area fills up quickly with tons of spectators. Also, it has been my experience that there is frequently an officer stationed at the South Main Street intersection with Blackstone, who will not let you drive the "wrong way" up the street to get to the staging area--therefore, you should be prepared to drive all the way up to Main Street and then come down Main to Blackstone, to get yourself properly staged in the right spot (again, getting there early is key). Finally, unlike the past several years (where I have been busy marching with the Boy Scouts), it appears I'm going have the chance once again to drive an old car in the Parade this year, which I am obviously very excited about! And so I will definitely be looking forward to meeting up again with many of my "old old-car parade friends" when we assemble there on Blackstone!... Please stay tuned to this space for any additional info/instructions/directions that we may receive from the Veterans Parade Committee Chairman. Finally, please be sure to check out our full online report about antique auto participation in the 2009 version of this event, at: http://home.comcast.net/~shorelinesteve/BFDMEM09/OldCarsReport.html (this event was added to this calendar as of 3/1/2011; some additional important details were added to the listing as of 3/15/2011)

JULY 22-24, 2011, Friday-Sunday, Springfield (MASSACHUSETTS) – “…Vintage Sports Car Club of America sanctioned race for VSCCA-eligible cars, thru the city streets of Springfield, MA…” *7/1/2011 Important Update – I looked at the event official web site (http://svgp.org/) today and found this note: “...SVGP 2011 CANCELLED – The event is cancelled for this year but we are jointly working with the city to make it happen in 2012. No date has been determined...” I imagine that the tornadoes that hit Springfield and the surrounding area on June 1, 2011, have caused many event plans to be altered—and I assume this is the case with the Springfield Grand Prix. We wish the town of Springfield, and also the Springfield Grand Prix event planners all the best, and will look forward to 2012. To quote Fred: “…the show will have a new look…” So, do stay tuned for more info, as we receive it, and also check with the CT Area Classic Thunderbird Club’s official Time Machines web page: http://www.tbirdsofconn.org/timemach.html ... webmaster’s additional notes - I am happy to report that I was able to meet with Car Show Chairman Fred Klaus in early May, and he handed me a big supply of the actual official printed Time Machines 2011 flyers—I have scanned all parts of the flyers and have posted them online at a popular VW hobby web site (since VW is this year’s Time Machines “featured marque”—but the information contained on them is of course applicable to all car show & flea market participants). JULY 30, 2011, Saturday, Guilford – "'Taste the Shoreline in Guilford' Car Show" at the Guilford Fairgrounds... Saturday, July 30th... Classics, Antiques, Hot Rods, Muscle Cars... Car Show hours: 12pm-3:30pm (Event hours: 12pm-10pm)... Food, beer, wine, great music, fun for all ages... $5 per car, trophies awarded, no cut off date!... A Guilford Chamber of Commerce Event, www.guilfordct.com, 203-453-9677..." webmaster's note - We were given an early heads-up about this event, back in March of this year, from our local old car friend Bill Raccio, who told us to 'stay tuned for more details.' Fast-forwarding to mid-May, we received another e-mail follow-up from Bill, which contained a complete electronic copy of the car show flyer attached. We really appreciate Bill having kept us on the mailing list for this event info--there is nothing we like more than fun local-area summertime car events! I also took the time to browse the Guilford Chamber of Commerce web site (the address of which is noted on the car show flyer), and found a page dedicated to the 'Taste the Shoreline' overall event, with many specifics also related to the Car Show--including a clickable link to the very same electronic flyer-please be sure to check out the page at: http://www.guilfordct.com/community_events/events_taste_the_shoreline.html . Thanks again to Bill Raccio once again for all his efforts in making this event possible, and keeping us well-informed about it--AND to the Guilford Chamber of Commerce also for making old cars a part of the 2011 Taste the Shoreline event! (this event was originally added to this calendar as of 3/1/2011; this event listing was significantly updated with specifics of the car show as of 5/18/2011)

JULY 30, 2011, Saturday, Stony Creek – "Cars On The Lawn” and “Blessing Of The Fleet” … As I was driving into the East Haven Knights of Columbus car show on Sunday, June 26th, who else but Bill Raccio hands me a flyer for this event! A little later, I ran into Wink Brainerd, who organizes it, and confirmed with Wink that it was acceptable for me to add this event to our SAAC Calendar. As I recall Wink saying, he’s been happy with past years’ low-key turnout, and isn’t looking dramatically to expand it, but he would also not be unhappy if a few more cars turned out to participate. Speaking for myself, this is a really fun little gathering, right on the grass in front of the Stony Creek Church of Christ Congregational, and directly across from the Stony Creek Beach & Madeira Park—where all the festivities surrounding the annual “Blessing Of The Fleet” take place. I noticed that it is listed to be happening the same day as the “Taste the Shoreline in Guilford” car show event—that we also learned about from Bill Raccio—so I’m going to have to high-tail it over to the Guilford Fairgrounds after participating in “Cars On The Lawn,” to try to take in some of the “Taste” event also. It goes without saying that we greatly appreciate all the work that good folks like Wink Brainerd and Bill Raccio do to enhance our ability to show off and enjoy our old cars, with fun summertime events like these! Here are all the other details transcribed from Wink’s “Cars On The Lawn” flyer: “…Saturday, July 30, 2011, 1:00pm, Church of Christ Congregational, 192 Thimble Islands Road, Stony Creek… An informal gathering of classic, antique, and special interest vehicles—across the street from the harbor. No judging, no prizes, just show up and show off your favorite vehicle!... Concert with Stony Creek Fife & Drum Corps…” (this event was added to this calendar as of 6/27/2011)

We also retyped the listing, since it was originally received typed in “all caps”—we have done our best to retype it without errors! We also looked up the correct web site address for Round Town Cruisers, which did not appear to have been correctly indicated in the original message, and have included the working address herewith. We absolutely salute the great work that the Beacon Falls Lions Club does for the cause of eyesight health, and the fantastic cause that this event benefits! *3/3/2011 update: Quoting from Mike Carrafiello’s (Flacarf@aol.com) e-mail dated today: “…Hi, Sorry about typing in caps, but the vision’s not what it used to be. You did a great job of retyping, but it was only 120 trophies, not 200…I wish it could be!... I appreciate what you do and the time you spend on helping us out. Thanks, Mike Carrafiello…” webmaster’s note – Thanks very much Mike for checking my work, and the listing is now corrected per your advice. All the best to you and everyone for a most successful event benefiting a most worthy cause! (this event was added to this calendar as of 2/16/2011; minor correction incorporated as of 3/3/2011)

I can't believe that this year's event marks the 20th Anniversary of the CT Bug-A-Fair. One important difference is the addition of deadlines for registration. -Tedd..." So, just to make sure you're getting the latest, most complete info, I took the liberty of transforming Tedd's e-mail attachement into a ".pdf" electronic format, and uploading it to our server (online location = http://home.comcast.net/~shorelinesteve/CentennialConnectionsAntiqueAutoForms.pdf): CLICK HERE FOR THE COMPLETE INFO & REGISTRATION FORM. So, don't forget about that August 17, 2011 registration deadline--and also please take notice of the "Centennial Connections Luncheon" section near the bottom of the form (for the sit-down luncheon at Dock & Dine--please note that seating is limited and reservations & prepayment are required), so that you can sign up for all of that also, if you wish! And thanks again Tedd Levy for all your help! webmaster's additional notes - We very much appreciate the organizers' gracious invitation for antique vehicles to participate in this wonderful-sounding occasion! Hopefully a good turnout of antiques can be achieved. You can also read up about the Raymond E. I just wanted to provide some additional information to the email you received on July 1, 2011. There is a cutoff year of 1980 for antique and classic vehicles, however, we are happy to accept registrations for special interest, exotic, or rare cars of any year... We also strongly urge all car owners to pre-register for this event. Our show field has limited space and we like to organize the classes to make it safe and easy for both exhibitors and attendees. If we allow 'cruise ins' it undermines the show committee's efforts to provide the best layout of the field...and it causes extensive delays in getting vehicles onto the field. We hope your members understand and help us by pre-registering their vehicles... Thank you. Tim Lynch, Cofounder, Essex Automobile Club..." Sounds cool, benefits good causes, and we are more than happy to help spread the word to the local antique car community! Additional info - Here is an online flyer for the event that I found after a bit of internet searching: http://www.clubrunner.ca/Portal/story/StoryDetail.aspx?accountid=7772&sid=187457&stid= - and a 'Zvents' page with some info also: http://www.zvents.com/z/chester-ct/the-chester-air-land-festival--events--171156045 . The Chester airport is located on CT Route 145--the actual airport address is 61 Winthrop Road, Chester, CT 06412, and also, FYI, Route 145 is the road that connects Route 80 with Route 148-the airport is more toward the Cedar Lake end of it. *9/28/2011 Updates - Here is a two-page flyer with antique auto particiaption information detailed on the second page--from what I read on the flyer, it appears that if you are going to show your car, you need to have it in place by 9am, and will not be permitted to leave until 4pm--anyway, check that out for yourself by clicking on the copy we have uploaded, that was sent to us yesterday (9/27) by a contact within the organizing committee: http://home.comcast.net/~shorelinesteve/ChesterALFest2011FlyerAndAutoShowInfo.pdf - you'll also please note that, per my careful reading of page 2 of that flyer, that pre-registration of your antique auto is not required (and it appears we received this particular flyer too late to take advantage of that anyway). Additional info - We've also heard more recently from Jack Tary, who it sounds like will be involved with some aspects of the event in an official capacity; we quote from Jack's note dated 9/27/2011: "...Hello Steve, I am going to be in charge of the seminars at the show. They will cover several different topics, mostly aviation-related. Cars, planes and radios sure are great hobbies... Jack. ..." Very cool, Jack! Good job! Mr. Yester was advising that he had turned over the Chairmanship of the Branford Veterans Parade Committee to Dr. Frank Whelan. We thanked Mr. Yester sincerely for his graciously including antique automobiles in the parades, and his particular assistance with making sure we were always publishing the correct, approved-for-publication information in our newsletter and on our web site, regarding antique auto participation in Branford Parades. We then wrote to Chairman Whelan on 9/6/2011, inquiring if antique autos would possibly be welcome to participate in the 2011 Branford Veterans Day Parade. Chairman Whelan wrote back a short time later, with a very gracious e-mail--the following information is transcribed from Chairman Whelan's e-mail: "...Hi Steve: You are more than welcome to participate on 13 November 2011 in the Veterans Day Parade in Branford---assembly is @ 1-1:15pm and parade will step-off shortly after 1:30pm from the Cenotaph (rear of Town Hall). Assembly will be on Montowese Street with auto front ends heading south, as the parade will be marching west on South Main Street at the start, and follow the usual route. Frank Kinney will be there to assist your group. Any questions and you can call me at 203-481-9829. See you there!... Best, Frank Whelan, Chairman..." Thanks very much once again to Mr. Yester for his many years of service, and of course also to new Committee Chairman Whelan, and the entire Branford Veterans Parade Committee, for the very gracious invitation to antique autos once again to participate in this reverent occasion remembering and honoring our country's military veterans who have given so much for our freedom. *9/23/2011 UPDATE - We wanted also to add this brief but important note, per a postcard dated 9/16/2011, that we received from Chairman Whelan: "A follow up note-don't forget that all (antique auto) entries are to be in good taste, to honor the Veterans!" NOVEMBER 26, 2011, Saturday, Branford - "...Branford Annual Tree Lighting and Holiday Parade. Parade begins at 5:00pm. Kick off the Holiday Season by joining us for our Annual Tree Lighting and Holiday Parade. The Parade leaves from Branford High School beginning at 5:00pm. The Tree Lighting immediately follows on the Town Green. For more information to join the parade, please contact the Branford Recreation Department Office at 203-488-8304. Rain date is Sunday, November 27, 2011..." webmaster's notes - The above info was transcribed from the Branford Recreation Department's online Fall Brochure, downloadable at: http://branfordrec.webbersaur.us/page/14831-Fall-Registration . I have participated in this parade several times in the past and have always had a great time. Usually there are a ton of antique farm tractors that also participate, driven there by Van Wilgen Garden Center, a few antique trucks from other local businesses, plus a handful (usually 5 to 10 or so?) of locally-owned antique autos who also turn out to participate. And of course, there are also many floats and marching units representing various town organizations in the parade as well. Once underway, the parade proceeds slowly from Branford High School on up to the Town Green. Once you get to the Green, antique autos are usually directed a place to park along the perimeter, or are allowed to leave at that point. The Green is quite a lively scene, with lots of folks gathered to watch the parade and see Santa throw the switch to illuminate the town's Christmas tree. A couple of things I've learned from participating in the past is that your antique car should have good working lights, since the parade happens mostly, if not all, after sundown. Secondly, you should also be comfortable with starting and stopping on an uphill with your antique car, since there is a decent hill leading up to the Green near the end of the parade. Thirdly, it has been my experience that adding some holiday decorations to your antique car for the parade is fun and adds to the overall festivity of the occasion. I estimate the total length of the parade to be a mile or less, but again, it moves along slowly, and you definitely need to be prepared for starting and stopping on that uphill section of Main Street near the end. It's a fun evening full of Small Town Spirit! *11/17/2011 IMPORTANT UPDATES - I called Branford Parks & Recreation Department today to find out if antique autos needed to pre-register to participate, and the answer is YES, they do need to pre-register (so, don't just show up that day--call as early as you can & make sure you get properly pre-registered). Call the Branford Parks & Recreation Department main number to pre-register your antique auto to participate: 203-488-8304. MAY 19, 2012, Saturday, Shelton2012 Vietnam Veteran Car Show. webmaster’s note – We found mention of this event on the antique police car web site www.policecars.us, on their car show dates page (http://www.policecars.us/car_show_dates3.html), and are transcribing the listing exactly as it appears there: “…2012 Vietnam Veteran Car Show, May 19th at the Veterans Park on the Riverwalk, 86 Canal St. East, Shelton, Connecticut…More information coming soon!...” - It is also worth noting that May 19th, 2012 is “Armed Forces Day,” so it is an exceptionally good choice for the date of this event. We have also participated in car shows at this venue in the past, and it’s a beautiful spot right by the Housatonic River, and very easy to get to from major roadways. I believe the actual flat grassy park is sometimes known as “The Slab,” ref: http://borntoexplore.org/trails/River_Walk.htm and http://shelton.patch.com/listings/shelton-riverwalk-the-slab *12/19/2011 UPDATES - Our local old car buddy Bill Raccio checked in via e-mail today with some great-sounding updates about this event--of which he is part of the organizing committee, dating back to the inaugural event in 2011 (reference: http://www.ctwhvvd.com/ctwhvvd.com/The_Committee.html); quoting from Bill's note: "...My buddy Steve, well I'm involved in this car show too... Anyway as soon as I get the flier in print I'll forward it to you to post. Also please spread the word thru the VW community about it... Highlights from last year's show which was in Cheshire: 175 participating cars... Military 'Huey' (helicopter) flyover, many military people, many political representatives, a great first show! This year there will be vendors, food, music, and maybe a few surprises too! I'll keep you in the loop... -Bill Raccio..." Fantastic! Sounds great, Bill! We are very happy to help spread the word about this wonderful tribute to our country's Vietnam Veterans! *1/19/2012 UPDATES – We were browsing the internet and noticed the 2012 official event flyer now viewable online at: http://www.ctwhvvd.com/ctwhvvd.com/The_Celebration_files/mywhvvdposter2012.jpg - here are a few other important highlights excerpted from that flyer: “…When: Saturday, May 19th, 2012… Rain Date: Sunday, May 20th, 2012… Where: Veterans Park, 86 Canal Street, Shelton, CT… Time: 11am-6pm… Free Admission… Live music (bring a lawnchair)… Custom cars & motorcycles… Retail & food vendors… Family fun, entertainment for all… To contact us: info@ctwhvvd.org ... MAY 19, 2012, Saturday, East Haven - Antique Auto Show at The Shore Line Trolley Museum. webmaster's note - We found a one-line mention of this event in a mailing dated January 13, 2012 from the Museum, to members (I am a dues-paying member), entitled "Open membership meeting, upcoming events, and thank you," from Jeff Hakner, President of the organization. We will do our best to pass along additional info as it may become available. We had a ton of fun participating in the first one, that was held in the actual trolley yard, back in 2009, reference: http://home.comcast.net/~shorelinesteve/TROLLY09/ShowReview.html - and some friends of ours attended the 2010 version, which was also in the trolley yard, reference: http://home.comcast.net/~shorelinesteve/TROLLY10/ShowReview.html . We attended the 2011 version as spectators--it was held in the parking lot behind the Museum building (17 River Street, East Haven), and in our opinion, it lost a lot of its appeal. It sure would be cool if the organizers saw fit to move the show back into the trolley yard... Anyway, meanwhile, you can also visit their web site at: http://www.bera.org/ (this event was added to this calendar as of 1/24/2012)

CRUISE NIGHTS (& Other Recurring Car Gatherings)

IMPORTANT: Since the world of Cruise Night listings seems to be especially filled with old, out-of-date information--which has, on occasion, led to frustrating drives to non-existent cruises (we speak from direct personal experience!)--we've decided to do our best to only list confirmed listings (though we still urge you to call ahead before making any long trips, since we cannot guarantee anything), which we'll clearly highlight with a noticeable color--we used red for confirmed '11's--and are going back to fuchsia for the confirmed '12's since that's what we've also been doing for the 2011 car show listings above... Anyway, now that it's the New Year, if you have any confirmed 2012 cruise event listings, please send us yours--especially those Shoreline-oriented, for inclusion here--Thanks! *1/24/2012 UPDATE - As of today, we've deleted all 2010 & ealier cruise listings, so as of now, we are only including previously confirmed 2011 and 2012 events--and so, if you don't see your favorite local-area cruise night listed here, please send us along the info (hopefully along with a contact for those who may need to request more info)--thanks again!

*SUNDAYS (see details for listing of specific dates), New Canaan (* = confirmed for 2012) – “Caffeine & Carburetors,” informal morning gatherings and country side drives. Quoting from their web site’s “About” section: “…Caffeine & Carburetors is a gathering of automotive enthusiasts. We meet at Zumbach’s Gourmet Coffee in New Canaan, CT 6 times year to enjoy our cars, trucks and motorcycles, and share them with like-minded gear heads, friends and family in and around Connecticut and New York… We have a tendency to lean toward sports cars, with the occasional Model A or 1920's Rolls Royce, but our emphasis is on foreign sports cars. We enjoy all vehicles and there are no sponsorships or awards associated with our gatherings… Doug Zumbach began hosting these gatherings in 1995. Each gathering falls on a Sunday and begins at 8am. We gather over a cup of coffee, and then enjoy a leisurely drive through the countryside. Caffeine and Carburetors is a way to indulge the gear head in all of us…” I’ve definitely heard about this event in the past, and recently, our old car friend Eric from western CT sent us a heads-up about the recently-announced 2012 series--quoting from Saab Sonett driver Eric’s e-mail dated 1/20/2012: “…As for local content, Caffeine & Carburetors (www.caffeineandcarburetors.com) recently announced its 2012 schedule: Apr 15, May 20, Jun 17, Sep 09, and Oct 14. They meet 5 or 6 times a season at Zumbach's Gourmet Coffee in New Canaan. The gatherings start at 8am and are generally followed by a drive through the country side. Attendees including everything from exotics to classics to every day drivers with a bent towards foreign sports cars. As usual, I'm not associated with the event but wanted to pass it along…” Thanks Eric for the heads-up! New Canaan is a beautiful town in southwestern CT, through which a bit of the Merritt Parkway passes, and ‘Caffeine & Carburetors’ sounds like the perfect excuse to take a relaxed Sunday drive there with your old car! Zumbach’s Gourmet Coffee is located at 77 Pine Street, New Canaan, CT 06840. (this cruise listing was added to this calendar as of 1/24/2012)
