FOR SALE

From a notice posted by the SAAC webmaster, January 2013: "...FOR SALE: 'Old school' metal tire valve stem caps… For those who need to have every last detail on their car 'just so'... Presenting 'Vintage Details': Cool old-style metal valve stem caps--the 'finishing touch' for your correct vintage restoration--or just an 'old school touch' for your favorite ride. Right now I have these three styles discussed below available, and quantities are limited, though I am working on more, and possibly different styles, 'as we speak'... Here are a couple of overall pictures that compare & contrast our current offerings: Main image showing three styles of 'Vintage Details' currently-available caps - http://images.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/pix/4771084.jpg ... Same three styles, three-quarter view this time, with identification - http://images.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/pix/4771085.jpg ... Your cost for *five* pieces (the fifth one is so you can detail-out your *spare* as well!) of any of the styles listed below, postpaid (that means that shipping and handling charges are all included in the cost shown--no extra charges apply), within the United States only (sorry I can not do foreign sales) are listed as follow: Style A = $12 for five (possible quantity discounts *on this style only* at this time); as-installed picture - http://images.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/pix/4771086.jpg ... Style B = $15 for five; as-installed picture - http://images.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/pix/4771087.jpg ... Style C = $16 for five (Style C is very similar to B, but with a very slight 'barrel' shape to the knurled area, and also with a slightly duller, more 'white' overall finish); as-installed picture - http://images.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/pix/4771088.jpg ... Payment by U.S. Postal Service 'Postal Money Order' or cash only (and if you send cash thru the mail may I suggest that you insure it for your own protection). Please contact me for information about how to make out your USPS Postal Money Order, and/or where to send funds: CommonGear@aol.com ..." (this ad posted 1/14/2013)

From a notice posted by the SAAC webmaster, January 2012: "...FOR SALE: One matching pair of original metal license plate frames from 'Barberino Pontiac-Datsun' of Wallingford, CT. In an attempt to date these frames a bit, I went on the internet and did a search on 'When did the name change from Datsun to Nissan?', and found this reference: '...1985 was the first year that Nissan no longer carried the name Datsun on vehicles exported to the US market (except for on some leftover parts like radiator caps or pages in manuals). 1985 Began the "The Name is Nissan" campaign. 1984 is the only year you can buy a Datsun 300ZX. After that, it was all officially Nissan...' So, it appears these frames can possibly be appropriate for 1985 or earlier vehicles that came from Barberino in Wallingford. WANTED

From the SAAC webmaster's own notes dated 5/8/2012: "...Wanted:   A reliable, decent condition, not too old, local automobile (or small SUV) with automatic transmission, and not ultra-high miles, that is in ready-to-drive condition. I am looking for a good basic commuting vehicle, something like a Toyota or Honda, or other reputable manufacturer. All Wheel Drive is a definite plus--so, something like a Subaru Outback or Forester might also be something I'd be interested in. How about a Honda Element with AWD; I think those are pretty cool… Here’s a stretch idea: Toyota FJ Cruiser?!... I am located in Branford, and would be interested in something in the local Shoreline area. Let me know what you've got, or even a reference if it's an interesting local car for sale that you know of--thanks. Please e-mail Steve at CommonGear@aol.com (this notice posted by the SAAC editor, May 2012)..."  (this ad posted 5/8/2012)

From an e-mail dated 9/11/2011 from samantha.civco@gmail.com: “…Hello… I am writing to you to inquire about a possible rental of a vehicle through your car club. I am getting married on August 18, 2012 and need to be transported from MGM Grand at Foxwoods to the Lake of Isles Country Club (literally right across the street, about 1 mile) in North Stonington, CT. It would just be me in the car, and hopefully the driver or owner of the vehicle. I have included a picture of a vehicle that I found very interesting, and would ideally like something along these lines (webmaster’s notes – I found some pictures of the same apparently local car that appear in some recent SAAC online reports—it’s a ’59 or so Lincoln, pink with a white top—I have no idea who owns it—but here are URLs of images of the same car that we have published: http://home.comcast.net/~shorelinesteve/WESTBROOK09/WBRK09HorizA5.JPG and http://home.comcast.net/~shorelinesteve/GUIDAS10/GMGuidas2010LincSgnR.jpg); but I am definitely open to any recommended options. Please get back to me with any information, or if anyone if your club may be interested in helping me… Thank You for your time, Samantha Civco…” Contact: samantha.civco@gmail.com (this ad posted 9/15/2011)

From an e-mail dated 3/9/2011 from cgaudinier2000@yahoo.com : "...Vintage car and driver for an elopement?... We're a same sex couple who live in FL and we are coming to NYC/CT to elope on Thurs. 5/24/12 next year, just us 2 brides, no guests. We'd love to have someone from your car club pick us up in their vintage car and drive us to the ceremony. Do you know anyone who would like to do this? We will pay them (we don't have a huge budget but we want to make it worth their while). Thanks! We are looking for 1 of 2 scenarios... Ideally we could have a driver and car for the whole day 3pm-11pm. Pick us up at our hotel in Times Square NYC and drive us to the ceremony in Ridgefield CT, then after ceremony to Calfs Pasture Beach in Norwalk for photos, then back to Ridgefield for dinner and cake, then back to our NYC hotel room at the end of the night. If that's not possible, we would rent a regular car service to take us from NYC hotel to Ridgefield in the afternoon, and then back to NYC at the end of the night. In which case, we'd like a vintage car and driver from 6pm-8pm to pick us up in Ridgefield after the ceremony and drive us to the beach for photos in Norwalk then back to Ridgefield for dinner. Thank you! Candice and Victoria..." Contact: cgaudinier2000@yahoo.com (this ad posted 3/12/2010)
