What is Mind’s Eye Theatre?

Unfortunately, improvisational acting on a large scale can get tricky --even dangerous-- without rules to govern play. This is where Mind's Eye Theater comes in to play. White Wolf's MET books provide rules and systems to simulate the situations that cannot practically (or safely) be acted out.

In the old World of Darkness, situations involving random chance and conflicts between characters (such as combat, the use of special powers, etc.) are resolved using a trait-based system and games of Rock/Paper/Scissors. Many situations can modify the outcome of this simple game (by giving somebody the opportunity to re-test when they lose or to win on ties, etc.)

The new World of Darkness uses a different system involving playing cards. Players draw from a deck that has cards from Ace (for 1) to 10. This system will allows for more sophisticated results by allowing for different degrees of success.

When it comes down to it, the rules are meant to accommodate the game while interfering as little as possible. Always remember, the most important rule is to have fun.

How do I join?

Easily!  Come to one of the sanctioned games (check out the calendar for more information) and see how you like it.  Talk to the other players, chat with a storyteller, and go about making a character.

Temporary memberships are available to those wanting to test out the game, and last for 3 months.  After that time you may choose to buy a membership from the Camarilla Fan Club, or you may move on and stop playing in the game.

All players are welcome!  We don’t care if you are experienced or not, we are all very friendly and helpful and would be glad to show you the ropes.  No member is turned away due to lack of experience!

What are you waiting for?  Come on down!

What is the World of Darkness?

The setting of the Camarilla's world-wide chronicle is known as The World of Darkness. The World of Darkness is a fantasy setting based on the real world as we know it, but with some important differences. In the World of Darkness, creatures of legend have come to life.

Recently, White Wolf began an alternate World of Darkness. We are now in the early stages of an unfolding story within this new World of Darkness. Boulder hosts regular games of "Vampire: the Requiem" and "Werewolf the Forsaken". Aside from Vampires and Werewolves, the only characters currently available for play in the new World of Darkness are human characters.   Boulder also hosts a game in the Old World of Darkness, “Changeling: the Shining Host”.

What is LARP?

Simply: Live Action Role-Playing. It is the common term used for the style of improvisational acting game that we play. It is based on the simple concept of portraying an ongoing character whose story and personality you create. The character participates in an ongoing story with other characters in her local area and around the world.

LARPing in the Camarilla world-wide chronicle means you have the opportunity to interact with people from far and wide who are all part of the same story. The Camarilla fan club maintains a number of in-character lists of like-minded individuals so that you may extend your playtime between sessions and see what people from other regions are doing. Sometimes, you may even interact with people from distant areas in person. Many Camarilla members visit the games of local chapters when they move or travel, and the Camarilla hosts a number of regional and international conventions every year.
