Molasses Popcorn Balls

I like to omit the cream of tarter and stir into the popcorn until it gets sugary.

Pop 2 cups of popcorn. (1/2 cup equals 1 qt. popped.) Reserve.

Cook 2 cups sugar, 5 Tbs.. water, pinch Cream of Tarter, 5 Tbs.. molasses, stirring until it starts to boil, to 250F. Take off the heat and, when it stops bubbling, add 2 Tbs.. butter and 1 tsp. vanilla.

Pour over the popped corn, stirring to coat. Form into balls with buttered hands or separate with forks on a baking sheet. Cool.
