Floor Cloths - my newest creations for home decor!
The process: First the heavy canvas is painted with gesso, usually two coats
onto each side. Then I apply the painted design, or decoupage fabric
collage onto it. After the surface design is compete and has dried for several
days, I apply a number of coats of water based polyurethane to seal it (4-7
coats) and to insure that it can withstand years of wear. Floor cloths are easily cleaned by simply wiping them with a wet
cloth although most dirt will easily shake off.
Most of these floor cloths are approx. 2x3 feet - perfect in
front of a doorway, kitchen sink or frig. Any of these could be used as a table
runner, a wall hanging, a welcome mat or just to accentuate an area in your
home. Prices range $75 - $200 depending on complexity for this size.
