Like everyone else with email,I get my share of "Nigerian scams" .After I received a recent
scam email I decided to play along to see if I could scam the scammer.
What follows are actual email exchanges between one such scammer and myself.I've copied his emails as is;
I've x-ed out my email address on this page for obvious reasons. Otherwise, what you are reading is accurate.
This is an on-going series and I'll keep this updated when I receive more emails from this particular scammer.I've also recently

First of all. I contacted you to help me repatriate this fund left behind by my late client. Since I do not want the bank to freeze the account because of the non-appearance of his next of kin. The transaction is 100% legitimate and risk free so you have nothing to worry about. You may like to learn that the Late client, who lived and executed contract in Nigeria before his death, has the same last name "Meadows" like yours and that will enable INTERCONTINENTAL BANK PLC where the money was deposited that you are his rightful relative, next of kin to inherit his funds $12 million dollars. My main focus is to use my professional position as a lawyer and present you as the next of kin to the deceased since you share the same last name with him, I know you may not be related to my late client but so far you have the same last name with him they will pay us the money for our jointly benefit. I shall apply that his entitlement be transferred to you through the said legal processes. We shall start by sending a formal application to this effect. I will copy you with the text of the said claim and transfer application to this effect. Thereafter, the bank will request of you the relevant back up documents to your claim and application according to the demand of our probate law for transfer of inheritance. I am on the stand by to provide you with their requirements from the stock of documents, which some is presently with me. Otherwise, I will facilitate our acquisition of any one demanded outside my possession. Once we have provided the Bank with their demands, they would now be under legal obligation to transfer the funds to your designated bank account. In your first email to me you said your client's name was Grady Sanford which is the same family name as mine. In this email you say your client's name was Meadows. Will this be a problem for us getting the money? I am not so smart about things like this. I await your next email. I understand you are an old man who does not really know much about computer. My late client Grady Sanford WILL the inheritance to his wife Meadows Sanford who died along side with the husband. The reason why I mentioned Meadows is because incase the bank contact you about the WILL, which clearly stated that Mrs. Meadows Sanford is the next of kin to Mr. Grady Sanford. We have know problem with this because we shall secure all the legal back up documents such as sworn affidavit in support of the claim and the letter of administration from the court here to back up your claim. In my position as a lawyer I will ensure we secure all legal documents before the inheritance will be release to you. I will advise you to forward the information’s to enable me write an application letter to the bank on your behalf. I wait for your urgent respond.
