Classroom Procedures - Mr. Siren
Classroom Procedures - Mr. Siren
- Beginning the period: Enter the classroom quietly. Take out your science
notebook, calculator and pen or pencil. Sharpen your pencil if necessary.
You will find an opening assignment or quiz posted on the whiteboard.
Begin working on the assignment.
- Attention: I will stand with my hand raised, or I may clap my hands twice
because some of you will not be able to see my hand when doing group work.
When you see my raised hand or hear me clap twice:
- Freeze.
- Turn and face me; pay attention and keep your eyes on me.
- Be ready for instruction. I will have something to say.
- Asking for help: Raise your hand and wait for me to call on you. If I am
in the middle of another task, I may acknowledge you with a head nod before
attending to you. Be patient.
- Turning in papers: Place your papers on the desk next to yours starting
from the leftmost desk in the row. Add your papers to the stack until the
stack arrives at the rightmost desk in the row. Either I or a class monitor
will collect the papers from the right side of each row.
- Finishing a task early: If you finish a task early, remain quiet so as not
to disturb others still completing their tasks. You may:
- check over your work.
- begin your science homework
- read a science magazine or bookwork on homework from other classes
- read a non-science book.
- End of period: Remain in your seat until I dismiss the class. Neither the
bell nor you dismiss the class. The teacher dismisses the class. Before I
dismiss the class you must make sure your workspace is clean, all equipment
is put away, and all trash is in the trashcan. Assist the class monitors in
making sure this is complete.
More procedures will be introduced as we need them.
