My name is George Campbell and I was a radio operator on the hill from January 53 through Dec 53. I don't remember the tent number but my closest buddy was Hanson whom I would like to contact to possibly get some copies of pictures that we both had taken during 1953. I was on duty on the hill for the last night of the war which ended abruptly with an eerie silence right at midnight. If anyone has scanned pictures from 1953 I would like to find out how to download them. Does anyone remember the very cold winter showers? The heated water only lasted for the first few showers and then you had to grin and bear a very frigid shower. Does anyone have a copy of the orders for those of us shipping back home in Dec 53?
My name is Vernon Copeland. I was stationed at the 607th from Mid Dec 52 through the last of Nov 53. I was a radio mechanic and worked on the hill. I worked in the barber shop at the compound for a few weeks. We had a house boy by the name of Han Suk Hyan. I have a lot of photos that I took during that time. They will have to be scanned so they can be sent to anyone interested. I do have information on names of the fellows I worked with, but cannot remember many at the present time. One Fellow's name was Killian, one was Arthur Smith, and Richard Maynard. By the way. I operate an Internet Company that builds web sites. I would be more than happy to furnish a domain and hosting for this site, if you would care to consider it. When a site has it's own domain, it is searchable via the search engines and can be located much easier. If you are interested, let me know. Vernon Copeland verncope@orcacom.net
I wasn't a member of the 607AC&W but was in an AC&W Squadron for a short time at Lockbourne AFB in Columbus, Ohio. I was with MATS in Japan and Korea and spent more time at K13 as a radio&DF operator with the 1951st AACS detachment at Suwon from January to December 1951. We had F51s, F80s and were the first air base to get the F84 Saberjet. A/1C Alex Norman
Hi, I was not stationed at Kangnung, but was assigned as a guard for two radar maintenance sgts. as they traveled to the mountain in summer of 1952. I was stationed at k-54 on Cho-Do det.2. I was after a load of booze for our sq. and they picked me as a escort to give me some thing to do while I was waiting, and wanted to keep me out of the air mans club at the airport I guess, ha. It was quite a hill. like to hear from any one.yor comrade Bob
