RAIDERS HALL OF FAME

hof

CHRIS YEZEK- It is only appropriate that the founder of the RAIDERS hockey team be the first inductee into our Hall Of Fame. Chris started the Raiders in 1991 as a team for beginnersand those with moderate experience to play. The team was a perennial doormat but provided a first opportunity for many players to experience league play. The team evolved under Chris and gradually began to upgrade its talent level to match the increase in the quality of play in the old DSHA. In addition to founding and running the team (many years losing money), Chris played goaltender for the Raiders in the early 90's

MARK BUELL- Mark Buell joined the Raiders in early 1992 as a diversion from his duties as a player at the U of D. Possibly one of the best skaters to ever skate in the Tri-State area, Mark relished playing with people just learning the game. Their effort and love of playing meant as much to him as any goal he scored. Mark would routinely have the other 11 players on the ice watching him in awe as he skated from one end of the rink to the other. As the team grew, Mark left and returned a few times due to some of his numerous job offers. He made it back in time for the teams first Wilmington League Championship in 1998. Although out of the area now, he remains on our 'inactive' roster in case he returns. Mark rang up 92 goals and 150 points in 56 games and is deserving of Hall of Fame honors.

DAN DAVID- Dan David was one of the original Raiders, dating back to the team's inception in 1991. A true rarity, he was an actual defenseman (compared to the dozens of forwards who claimed to play defense to grab a spot on the roster). He fought off the urge to be a forward over the years and was invaluable in breaking in many a new Raider defenseman. He also was asked to be the babysitter to many forwards trying their hands at defense. He is one of two full time defenseman to top 100 points and a four time winner of our Best Defenseman Award. In his early days, he was a perennial penalty minute leader for the team. In latter days, he was a solid contributor to a team that won two Wilmington league championships and one Pond league title as well. Still on the inactive roster, we may call on his skills again.

BOB ANDERSON- Bob Anderson was signed by the Raiders in the old D.S.H.A. at the U of D rink in the mid 90s. He instantly provided a defensive presence for a team that usually had at least 4 forwards flailing around on the backline in an attempt to play D. Over the years, Bob was a consistent contributor to the teams improvement. A great pure skater (who didn't start playing until later in life), Bob used his speed to carry the puck out of defensive trouble. Injuries and surgery the past few years limited his effectiveness, but never his heart and certainly not his blazing backhand shot! Currently, Bob is the Captain of the Raiders Alumni Team at the Pond (as of '04). and is skating as well as ever. Always a great teammate, Bob becomes the 4th person inducted into the Hall of Fame.

WALT FRASER- Walt was the Raiders full time starting goalie in the mid nineties in the Pond and Wilmington leagues. After having a few goalies come through the system only to leave town, Walt was a welcomed fixture between the pipes. Walt was a solid performer, who along with a solid defensive unit, led the Raiders to their first two championships (Pond Spring League, and Wilmington Winter league) before eventually retiring as an active player. His 56 wins in 93 games was the team record for numerous years. His 5 assists also leads all Raiders goalies. Always willing to hang out with the teammates and throw a few back after a win, or a loss, Walt becomes the 5th player inducted into the Hall of Fame.
