Why Use Handmade Soaps?

Many people suffer from dry and sensitive skin. As a result, there are literally hundreds of soaps to choose from that claim to cure or relieve a variety of skin-related symptoms. However, the overwhelming majority of these products are essentially chemically-created detergents. For example, one of the most well-known commercial soap products is the "Dove Beauty Bar". Compare the ingredients in a bar of Dove to the ingredients in one of our homemade bars:

"Dove Beauty Bar" - Ingredients include sodium cocoylisethionate, stearic acid, sodium tallowate, sodium isethionate, coconut acid, sodium stearate, sodium dodecylbenzene, sodium chloride, titanium dioxide, zinc oxide and Trisodium ENTA.

Our "Cocoa Butter Swirl" Bar - Ingredients include distilled water, cocoa butter, coconut oil, olive oil, sweet almond oil, and avocado oil.

Now which bar would you rather use?

Commercial soaps may be cheaper to buy but are they the best value for your hard-earned dollar? A typical consumer often winds up spending more money than they have to by purchasing overpriced creams and lotions to medicate dry skin, which is actually being aggravated and made worse by that cheaper, chemically-processed bar of soap.

You owe it to yourself to try our natural, homemade soaps. Each of our bars represents a solid value for your money. You will notice how soft and smooth your skin feels well before your first bar of soap is gone. Let the experience and luxury of these wonderful soaps -- made with the highest quality vegetable oils, botanicals, essential oils and cosmetic grade fragrance oils -- caress and moisturize your skin!

Chemicals or all-natural ingredients? The choice is yours!

Below is a list of the ingredients used in our soaps and bath salts.

  • Avocado Oil - Contains proteins & vitamins A, B1, B2, D & E. Helps soften & moisturize the skin. Avocado oil has been used for centuries in African skin treatments. It's a very good, penetrating nutrient for dry skin and eczema. Avocado oil is said to have healing and regenerating qualities.

  • Castor Oil - Rich in fatty acids, castor acts as a humectant - attracting moisture to the skin - while assisting in creating a fluffy lather.

  • Cocoa Butter - Cocoa butter is an emollient that has been used for centuries as a skin care product. It has been used to heal and moisturize skin that has been exposed to the elements. It also helps reduce the formation of stretch marks during pregnancy by keeping the skin moist and supple.

  • Coconut Oil - Creates a good, hard soap with a wonderful fluffy lather.

  • Colorants - Ultramarines and oxides are sometimes used for color.

  • Essential Oils - Essential oils are used for their aromatherapeutic benefits and/or to add scent.

  • Fragrance Oils - Cosmetic-grade fragrance oils are sometimes used.

  • Jojoba Oil - Both a moisturizer & humectant, containing proteins andminerals. Jojoba is similar in chemistry to our own skin's sebum.

  • Kokum Butter - This is used for its skin softening and healing abilities. Kokum butter helps reduce degeneration of the skin cells and restores elasticity.

  • Mango Butter - Good emolliency, and lends protection against the sun. It is said to prevent drying of the skin and formation of wrinkles.

  • Mowrah Butter - Obtained from the fruit of the Indian tree (Madhuca latifolia), mowrah butter is known to prevent drying of the skin and development of wrinkles. Reduces degeneration of skin cells and restores skin flexibility.

  • Olive Oil - Full of vitamins, minerals & proteins. Attracts external moisture & holds the moisture close to the skin while still allowing normal functions of the skin (such as sweating, shedding of dead skin and releasing sebum) to take place.

  • Palm Kernel Oil - Very similar to coconut oil in that it produces a hard soap that lathers well.

  • Palm Oil - Used in combination with coconut oil to produce large, creamy bubbles andhelp create a hard bar of soap.

  • Shea Butter - For thousands of years this natural butter has been known as the ideal treatment for dry or aging skin. Its high content of non-saponifiable fatty acids gives it the ability to moisturize and retain the elasticity of the skin. Shea butter also helps to protect the skin against the damaging effects of the sun while repairing cellular degeneration.

  • Sunflower Oil is very high in essential fatty acids and helps to moisturize, regenerate, and condition the skin.  It's great for mature, sensitive, or dry, damaged skin.

  • Sweet Almond Oil - Softens and conditions skin. It's especially suitable for eczema, itchy, dry and inflamed skin.
