When you least
expect it, the whole SA crew puts in a key but oddly under-celebrated appearance at
a comics gathering near you. Submitted for
your approval are some of the more intriguing moments,
captured on film for all to enjoy and/or cringe at. So you
better get ready... we may be coming to your town.
ALTERNATIVE
PRESS EXPO
San Francisco, CA
February 2004

Russo keeps
watch at the AIT/PlanetLar table. Snazzy.
Perhaps the
only woman in the world, outside of our moms, who can claim to have been
photographed with all four SKY APE creators over the course of three
years, Izzy Rappaport, editor/goddess of Sequential Tart.

AIT honcho
Larry Young, upon seeing the final sales figures for SKY APE: ALL THE
HEROES.

Russo and
Isotope owner/Comic Pimp James Sime, the sharpest dressed man in comics.
MODERN
MYTHS ANNIVERSARY PARTY
Northampton, MA
September 2003

Mimi, Russo
and Lar talk up the APE at the Modern Myths First Anniversary bash.

Lar and Lar
forum regular Seth discuss their mutual disdain for sobriety.

Mike
"Electric Girl" Brennan, Lar and Russo get jiggy.

Finally kicked
out.
ALTERNATIVE
PRESS EXPO
San Francisco, CA
February 2003

Russo meets up with Adrienne, writer for Sequential Tart and one
of the coolest and, dare we say it, sassiest women alive. Adrienne
is famous for her hair, her drinking prowess, and her jeans (see
next photo). There are now more photos of her on this site than any
of the SKY APE creators.

Ms. Adrienne again, this time getting her jeans
"signed" by Jenkins.

The REAL axis of evil: John Lee, Russo, and Isotope Comics
honcho and all-around party czar James Sime check the scene at the
post-APE bash at Isotope.

SKY APE groupies abound. Actually, these are Russo's pals who I
believe were paid to hold the book.

AIT commander Larry Young and Russo. Dig on Mike's crazy
"meat" shirt.

Represent.
COMIC
CON INTERNATIONAL
San Diego, CA
July 2002

SKY APE scribe Russo and artist Jenkins are full-on representin'
at the 2002 Con. When it's time to to rock, on goes the fez, up
shoots the adrenaline, and the SKY APE machine gets its groove on.
Or something like that. Please note Russo's shirt, which offers free
advertising to Boston's Liberty Book II, purveyors of fine porno.

You can almost hear the totally-fab Mimi, of AIT/PlanetLar,
saying, "These boys aren't with us, Mayor." Second from
left, it's Curtis Sliwa of the Guardian Angels!
COMIC
CON INTERNATIONAL
San Diego, CA
July 2001

SKY APE scribe Russo and artist Jenkins discuss their
experiences with "roofies" with AIT-PlanetLar's
John Lee. John is very much the man and anyone who tells you
otherwise should be slapped at once.

Those comic book people get pretty crazy after hours. Seen here
at one of the Con "gatherings" are John "the
man" Lee, Russo, McCarney, Mimi Rosenheim, Senor Jenkins and
Larry Young.

Robert Kirkman and Tony Moore, the talented and very, very
twisted "minds" behind Battle Pope, are caught here
digging on the SKY APE trade paperback. They were later slipped $35
for agreeing to hold the book.

Russo gets in on the dream fulfillment thing as well when he
gets mugged by two crazed fans. The fellow in the Spider-Man costume
is Will Gattows, the Broadway actor whom most of us remember from
his work in "The Mike Piazza Follies."

Pat Morita stopped by the AIT booth to say how much he enjoyed
the SKY APE collection, and to also solicit funds for his upcoming
musical based on the first-ever apendectomy.

Scenes from the PlanetLar booth: Russo adopts his "no
autographs" pose, made famous during the 1964 Republican
National Convention. Just over his shoulder, Jenkins sketches his
balls.
ALTERNATIVE PRESS EXPO
San Francisco, CA
February 2001

The SKY APE crew set up shop at the PlanetLar booth and
manage to scare away practically everyone. We did, however, sell a
bunch of books, and if you bought one, we thank you.

One of the coolest people we met at APE was Adrienne, a writer
for SEQUENTIAL TART, who
has amassed a unique collection of jeans signed/sketched by her fave
artists.

John Lee... hitting the sauce once again.

... and soon, it's a free-for-all.

The hardest working man in comics, SKY APE publisher Larry
Young, cleverly uses this photo op to once again put his arm around
John Lee. Neither man was wearing pants.
