Runner Information

Parking at Lake Chabot Marina, Castro Valley, CA
Free parking is plentiful along Lake Chabot Rd at the entrance to the Marina. For a small fee, you can park in the Park's parking lot much closer to the Cove Picnic Area, our race central. The park supervisor promised to have a gate attendant at the entrance by 5:30 am on race morning. Remember those fees help preserve our running grounds. Driving directions to the Start/Finish can be found here.

Race-Day Registration
Race-day registration will be limited and depending on available slots (DNS's) at the Start/Finish Area at the Lake Chabot's Marina, Cove Picnic Area from 5:45-6:45 A.M.  However, the race-day registration fee increases to $100

Runner Check-In and Number Pickup
All runners must check in, sign a separate waiver (insurance is getting tougher, sorry about the inconvenience), and pick up their Race Number at the Lake Chabot Cove Picnic area between 5:45-6:45 am

Drop Bags
We will transport drop bags from the start to the Skyline Gate Aid Station (ca. 1/2-way mark).  However, they will not be returned to the Start/Finish before the Skyline Gate Aid Station has been dismantled (about 12:00 pm).

Aid Stations
There will be nine aid stations along the course (including the start/finish) spaced anywhere from 1.98 to 5.87 miles apart.  The Start and the Grass Valley Aid Station (mile 4.31 ) will have only water, Gatorade, and some PowerBars/Gels.  All other aid stations will offer the usual assortment of foods and drinks, including Gatorade, sodas, PowerBars and Gels, fruit, sweets, salts etc. The distance between the Big Bear Aid Station to Skyline Gate and back to Big Bear will require the mandatory carrying of at least one water bottle per runner. Please come prepared! It can get HOT! Carrying a Water Bottle will be Mandatory!

Weather
Weather conditions can vary.  The average high/low temperatures for August are 75°F/53°F.  We can expect cool conditions and even fog in the morning and bright sun from mid-morning on.  Hot conditions are possible later in the race, especially for the slower runners. Rain in August is very unusual, although we would welcome it, and there were years, when the temperatures on race day topped the 100's.

Attention!
If you have special medical conditions (asthma, allergic reaction to bee stings, etc.) please take appropriate precautions.  Parts of the course are relatively inaccessible.  Neither the Race Management nor the East Bay Regional Park District can be made liable for injuries.

Littering
Littering along the course will result in immediate disqualification.  Please DISPOSE of TRASH and cups AT THE AID STATIONS.

All runners completing the course within the cutoff time will receive the distinct Skyline 50k  finisher's high-performance  apparel & socks .
Age group awards  M/F, <30, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+
