| Common questions and answers:
Q: How Can I be assured my radio is
going to be modified properly?
A: I have an Associates Degree in Electronics Technology From
IVY Tech. College and have been working in the electronics
field for over 14 years repairing radios.
Q: How long does it take before I receive my radio back
A: Once I receive your radio, your radio will be modified within
two (2) business days and shipped back.
Q: I've already programmed in lots of memory channels,
will they still be there after modification?
A: I do everything possible to retain stored frequencies, but
can not guarantee they will still be there.
Q: Will I get a return tracking number?
A: Yes, if you request it.
Q: : How do you return my radio?
A: Usually I ship USPS Priority with Signature Required.
Q: Do you fix broken radios?
A: No, not at this time.
Q: Do you perform any other services for Yaesu radios?
A: Yes, frequency warp alignments (aligns TX/RX frequency
traceable to NIST)
Q: Does modifying my radio void the factory warranty?
A: As long as the modification is not the cause of the radio to
fail, manufactures warranties are generally still valid.
Q: I don't have a Amateur License, will you still modify
my radio?
A: NO
Q: Do you modify other makes/models
of Amateur radios?
A: Sure, if you don't see your radio listed, drop me an email.
Q: I can't upload new memory channels
back to my radio after modification?
A: Your hardware configuration has been changed, so you must
re-read the radios memory and edit the memory channels and
upload this back to the radio.
Q: What is the difference between
MARS/CAP
and FREEBAND
modifications?
A: MARS/CAP modification opens transmit range on most dual band
transceivers from 140 to 174 & 420 to 470Mhz. FREEBAND opens
the transmit on the same radio approx 100Mhz - 200Mhz & 400Mhz -
500Mhz. The problem with FREEBAND is that most, if not all
radios, will NOT transmit properly past the MARS/CAP ranges.
Some radios once FREEBANDED will not have proper 2M/70cm
repeater offsets anymore. Freeband does not open any receive
frequencies the radio doesn't already have.
I recommend MARS/CAP modification for the majority of radios
listed.
