Serial: 4T  Episode Nos. 458, 459, 460, and 461.  Title: The Invisible Enemy

An intelligent virus attacks and possesses a space crew, soon infects a base on the Saturn moon Titan, and then possesses the Doctor

himself.  Fleeing to a hospital in the asteroid belt, the Doctor and his doctors decide drastic action is called for to repel the virus, and so

the Doctor clones himself and Leela, shrinks the clones, and injects them into his brain to find and destroy the virus.  Meanwhile the

real Leela tries to repel the attacking possessed humans, and gets some help from the hospital’s mobile computer and guard dog... K9.

 

This story sees the introduction of K9.

Sarah Jane Smith returns home from abroad for Christmas to find her Aunt Lavinia missing, and indications that her disappearance

may have been caused by a local coven of witches.  She also finds a crate containing a certain robot dog left to her by her old friend

the Doctor who may be able to help her solve the mystery...

 

This is a 50-minute spinoff program that was the pilot for a prospective series about Sarah and K9.  (the series was not
picked up)   The Doctor does not appear in it.

-         “Studio Sweepings”  An archive 20-minute raw black-and-white recording taken from the main studio cameras before,

during, and after full takes as Tom Baker and Louise Jameson played the scenes set in the interior of the Doctor’s brain.

-         “Visual Effect”   A new 16-minute documentary where visual effects designers Mat Irvine and Ian Scoones reunite to

reminisce about their roles on this production, with a spotlight on the model work.

-         Blue Peter.  A 5-minute segment from a 1977 edition of the venerable BBC children’s magazine show where K9 was introduced

to viewers.

-         Info Text option.  Turn this on and the story will play with pop-up production trivia subtitles playing throughout the story.
