LAKESHORE ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL HISTORY

hall of fame
Mickey Spillane - Inducted to Pop Warner Southeast Hall of Fame!

The foundation of Lakeshore's rich football history began with a tag team
called the Rebels in 1961. Coached by Dan Ledbetter, the Rebels were 12-0 that year.
In 1962 they became a Junior Bantam tackle team and participated with six other city teams.
Their perfect 6-0 record earned them the right to play a team from Texas--the Compton Comets
in the stadium then called the Gator Bowl. Mayor Hayden Burns declared December 7, 1962
Pop Warner Day in Jacksonville. The Rebels were victorious that day, winning 26-7!

In 1963 another team was added--the Raiders, founded by A. B. Clifton.
As the years passed, more and more children have wanted to play ball at Lakeshore.
The number of teams has now grown to seven tackle teams and two flag teams.

Lakeshore has produced:

· 23 City Championships
· 8 Southeast Regional Championships
· 1 State Championship
· 2 National Championships
