[About Me]

Hi! Thank you for taking the time to visit me here on my web page.  I'm Keith Smith and I live on the coast of the Gulf of Mexico, in the city of Mobile, Alabama.  Born in the Johnstown, Pennsylvania area,  I moved to Mobile to attend the University of South Alabama College of Medicine over 20 years ago.  The idea of not having to buy snow tires or shovel snow appealed to me, and I made Mobile my home.  I've spent my entire Public Health career in Public Health Area XI, where I'm currently the Director of Disease Control.  The Divisions that make up my department are Immunization, Tuberculosis, Sexually Transmitted Diseases, HIV/AIDS Surveillance, and HIV Intervention.

I'm going to try to put together a site here that says not only something about me as a person and as a health professional, but also promotes some of my passions such as music, hiking, camping, backpacking, photography, black bears, environmental protection, aviation, and diabetes education and research.   All of those things aren't here now but this will be a growing site, so check back with me from time to time to see what I've added, and if in fact I'm still alive and functioning.    If you don't see things evolving, feel free to fire a nasty-gram at me to prod me along.  I sometimes need the incentive.
