After The Storm and Damage Control:

As of today, we have passes for Andy, Bob Keymont and Lou Salemi.  If we can communicate by cell phone or land line, we can be reached to see what damage has been done.  If lines are not operable, we will not know any more than the public.  Once we are cleared to enter, we will attempt to list those homes that are affected.  This will be done by addresses and so noted and ready to advise those involved as they contact us.  We will not call all involved.  The owner will have to seek the answers to their inquiry to us, via email, phone, or cell phones.  (See emergency call list.)  The SMYC Web Page may show damage by home with lists and pictures.

The Committee is responsible for directing activity to clear debris from the streets so as access can be made, but cannot remove any property from your site.  Your Insurance Carrier provides “Debris Removal” in your policy and you should be able to recover policy limits for this service.

Our landscape vendor will come to clean the greenery debris from streets as soon as possible.  We have contacted 2 disposal companies to be placed on their “Preferred” lists, so as to be able to clean up debris.  We will not take property from the lot or home.  Owners must notify their insurance carrier and take their directive for property protection and debris removal.

It is imperative that all residents and/or their Assignees (Renters or Inspection Persons) notify their individual Insurance Company so as to report a loss when it occurs.  Residents may be directed to secure “Board Up” services and be advised of other requirements by their personal insurance carrier.  If you carry additional Flood Insurance, which is highly recommended, they require notification as well as your Wind Coverage Insurance carrier.

It is not, and will not, be a responsibility of the Committee to file your claim(s).  As there are different Insurance Companies involved, the Committee cannot and will not act to secure the services required by your personal Insurance carrier.   All residents should be alerted to make these inquiries before a disaster occurs.   Know who you will call and what services you will need for the protection and requirements your Insurance carrier directs you to protect further loss of your property.
