Download page for VFR Flight Planner

Version 1.20 of the Flight Planner:

  • Works with all Excel versions from 5.0 to Excel 2000. See bug list. Updates include new airport sheet, minor bug fixes and a new built-in sunrise/sunset calculator. Read an online PDF version of the user reference. The spreadsheet structure is as follows:

  •

---Sheet "1" is a basic howto sheet for first time users and novice pilots.
---Sheet "2" is an airports sheet for user entered airport info (latitudes/longitudes/runway/frequency/timezone data).
---Sheet "3" is the main flight planner for checkpoint/wind entry with all the calculated fields shown in tabular form.
---Sheet "4" is the reverse flight plan automatically generated from sheet 1. User has option to add pertinent data or modify it as well.
---Sheet "5" contains comm/nav frequency, runway information and a flight plan generator.
---Sheet "6" is the aircraft page, that holds aircraft specific information (Vspeeds, W&B data, operating costs etc.)
---Sheet "7" is the weight and balance calculation and display page.
---Sheet "8" is a weather page for writing down weather/ATIS/NOTAM info. Brief explanation of METAR/TAF abbr. is also provided.
---Sheet "9" is a sheet that contains timezone and daylight savings time information for most countries and internal timezones for large countries. User can modify if needed.

  • Basically you enter VFR checkpoint information, winds and altitude and you get wind correction angle, MH, MC, ETEs, ETAs, GS and fuel consumption.
  • Density altitude, great circle distance, sunrise/sunset go/no-go recommendations and other miscellaneous time calculations.
  • This 9 page spreadsheet (hopefully) contains all the information you are likely to need to fly from point A to point B in VFR conditions.
  • Documentation in Microsoft Word, ASCII text and Adobe PDF. HTML and others in the near future.
  • Also downloadable from ZDNet Hotfiles website. Please click on the ZD Net Editors' Pick icon on this page for a review and direct download from ZDNet.
